Oh, what a culinary adventure we had… and by “adventure,” I mean the kind where you wish you’d packed emergency snacks. This place used to be a favorite, but on this visit it felt like the restaurant had entered its retirement era and stopped caring altogether. We arrived hoping for a nice meal with our gdaughter and her partner, only to be seated at a tiny table shoved against a drafty, grimy window. We requested a booth earlier, so apparently we were being punished for having expectations. Hostess = 0/10 Our server was pleasant and prompt to take our order, but did not deliver the entrees to the table served at appropriate temperatures - prehaps a back of the house issue. Server = 5/10 My gdaughter's entree: "Prime Rib Sandwich - slow roasted prime rib, served open faced with au jus and homemade horsey sauce." This entree arrived at the table as two slabs of gray ringed beef lounging sadly on soaked sandwich bread. Bread that was throughly soaked in an industrial strength, salt laden, bottled au jus. Kitchen tip: Review how to properly prepare slow roasted Prime Rib. Kitchen tip: Au jus is served on the side, not flooded over the entire plate of prime rib and bread ... unless youre attempting a cover-up. Kitchen = 0/1 Entree two: "Hickory Smoked Brisket Slow smoked, topped with grilled onions & served with BBQ sauce" If this brisket was smoked, then I’m the Queen of England. Texture: steamy, wet, disintegrating. Smoke ring? Bark? Onions? Nope, nope & nope. BBQ sauce served in a 2-oz plastic cup that screamed “I’m actually ketchup.” Fries were cold and soggy from brisket water runoff. Plate was stone cold. Kitchen tip: Steamed brisket is not the same as slow smoked brisket. Take the extra second to trim off the excess fat cap and deckle BEFORE serving. Kitchen = 1/10 Entree three: "Haddock Fillet Deep fried, pan-fried or broiled and served with lemon & tartar sauce" The haddock appeared to be pan-fried in a skillet that had cooked several previous proteins—off-tasting and poorly seasoned. The wild rice would have been best left in the wild. The one bright spot was the broccoli: properly steamed and generously portioned. Kitchen tip: Drain the broccoli before plating it next to a pan-fried protein. CLEAN your pans before re-using. Kitchen = 1/10 Entree four: "Roast Beef Manhattan Shaved slow roasted beef on Texas Toast with mashed potatoes and gravy" Andy ate it. Andy will eat anything. God bless Andy. Kitchen = 5/10

Some of the food is trash I got the pasta with shrimp ….they didn’t even put in the effort to actually cook good food….just got to Pizza Hut. The picture shows that they don’t even care to season the pasta…..I asked the manger to exchange the meal and her just told me to leave the restaurant with my trash meal.

We ordered a hamburger it came with fries. And I had a salad, an appetizer of onion rings and cheese curds. The hamburger was so greasy that it just tasted like a Big blob of Grease the bun with greasy. My Greek salad was not very big didn't have a whole lot of lettuce in it. And the appetizer of onion rings was basically a side order of onion rings. I ordered a beer it came in a can and I had to ask for a glass for it. I wasn't impressed enough to go back

I love the building. Classic Hall's food. Had the Reuben, it was ok. Next time I'm trying the fish sandwich.

Here for a family luncheon (group of 16). We were seated in a reasonably quiet group dining room which made for easy conversations. Our waitperson did an excellent job. After our family gathering had ended elsewhere, I returned to the Tavern for dinner, which was also very good. The bar area was quite lively. The place is obviously attractive to the local crowd.

While staying at the hotel next door I made a to go order for a prime rib sandwich medium/medium rare. It was cold and practically bleeding. I called to let them know and the manager said that the au jus is supposed to warm it up. Not worth it.
