I never write reviews but I love this place. I used to travel all the way to Indy for Yats and now the menu is even bigger. AB is always extremely friendly. Despite the delightful cashiers/cooks often running the cafe by themselves, I've never had any problems or long waits. Could definitely use some blinds however.

As someone who grew up in Indianapolis. Who’s favorite place to eat is Yat’s. I can say confidently, this isn’t IT. Let’s start off with the menu, it’s not the same. And it’s not better. Bread is twice the price. And it’s just all butter. No flavor. They don’t even give it time to get into the bread they just rub it and send it. It’s gross. Everyone orders extra bread in indy. It’s the most important part! Rice is overcooked and has a burnt taste. Crawfish is literally mush. Chicken is giant chunks. Nothing I’ve ordered here really hits. Tried some new things and they were just weird. They don’t offer anywhere near the amount of sauces either.
Really this place has just been a let down since its opened. I keep coming back in hopes that they have fixed these things or at least do better but this last time was just all bad. Absolutely everything is DIRTY. The floor. The tables. The fountain drink area. The walls. The weird pillows. All of the tables have chips and dings all over them now. They have this very cheap vinyl plank floor that is starting to fall apart. And as an installer, this is such a distraction. That and how dirty and smudgey everything is. Trash was full. Oh and how could I forget. The kids high chair looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. I’m not putting my kid in that, no sir. I had to spend some time cleaning up food just to sit somewhere! Meanwhile the person up front is just on their phone doing nothing. When the whole place is filthy. It’s obvious no one here cares about this place and just come for a check.
And what is up with the decor? This isn’t how Yat’s is! Menu is way too large which I’m sure is a waste of money. There’s no emotion, or expression to this location. And the jazz isn’t even good jazz. It makes me feel like I’m in an elevator.
They are trying to force Yat’s to fit the vibe of jefferson and it’s just tacky and distasteful.

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a restaurant online before, but I truly just want this place to be better than it is. I love all the Indianapolis locations, and this sadly feels like a pale imitation. The food is under seasoned and overpriced compared to the original. For example, an entire loaf of bread is $4.50 at the Indy locations, whereas a measly two extra pieces are $2.50 here. The quality and portions are also considerably worse, with the food being generally bland and lackluster, comparatively. Not only that, but they often have all their chairs up sometimes a full hour and a half before they close, both giving it the appearance of being closed and also making it so that you cannot eat inside. I want to love this place because of how great the Indianapolis locations still are, but I don’t think this restaurant is long for this world unless they do better.

So tasty!! Samples are available if you want to try before you buy, and there are a handful of vegetarian options. Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and there are loads of non-spicy options. I highly recommend Drunken Chicken with brown rice and bread.

AB made our experience at Yats one to remember. I walked in and was instantly greeted with love and service. Ab asked me about myself and my experience with creole food. He so clearly cared and wanted for me to have such a positive experience.
The food was great. But more than anything, my experience with AB was what stood out. I feel cared for and satisfied not only because of the food but because of the conversation and service!

As soon as we walked in, the owner welcomed us with an abundance of samples and a good smile. Very kind man, and even shared some time in devotion with us when we were done eating. I grew up in Shreveport, LA, so Cajun was a popular choice there. It felt like I was back in a good formal, Mardigras esk, and clean atmosphere. I highly recommend coming in to try the samples at a minimum (knowing you’ll stick around to eat as we did).

Only 1 person running the whole store. Waited 25 min at the counter and didn't even get a polite hello.
First time here. The food was amazing. Can't believe we just ran into it.
It's a must go.

This place should be busier! I've never had a bad meal, large portions and great flavors. The jambalaya on Friday and Saturday is the best around.
Food is really good but I wish etoufee portion could be more , felt like rice was bigger.

Saturday, my fiance and I stopped in for the first time. We were immediately greeted by a very polite young man. I explained to him we had never been here and may need some help. He was so kind and explained the entire ordering process and proceeded to get me a sample to see if I liked it. His name was AB and he truly went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our lunch. He even baked a fresh batch of cookies for me. AB is truly an asset to your company and because of him, we will definitely return!
