Early dinner reservation. Greeted by the owner, no enthusiastic welcome. Follow me find of vibe. Ok, we were seated quick. Settled into our table, third to the right when you walk in. Busy spot naturally. Everyone has to walk by this table.

Long wait for a server. He finally came, no mention of his name…until asked. Young guy, no real restaurant experience other than her is my assumption. Slow, no urgency, never asked how we our experience was going or if he could get us anything. No recommendation, no personality. Kind of dealt this way with every encounter. They were not busy yet.

Food, 38$-56$ an entree. I expected better. It was served room temperature and was the worst veal bucca I’ve had. Lasagna, marketed homemade was ok. Kinda mostly noodles, light sauce and some cheese on top.

For 250$, I would have rather went to Sunny Italy or even Ruth Chris. Fealt more like a number than a guest here for sure.

Walking into Capri on a snowy Indiana night feels like someone opened a portal straight to the Amalfi Coast. The second the door swings shut behind you, the host belts out a heartfelt “Buona sera!” and you know you are in the right place. Before you even sit down, a cold glass of Falanghina is in your hand. That alone is worth five stars.
The room is pure cozy Italian magic: brick walls, crackling fireplace, white lights twinkling like the Bay of Naples at night, and a little citrus tree in the corner that makes the whole place smell like Sorrento in December.
Food? Ridiculous (in the best way).
• Seared Hokkaido scallops: golden outside, buttery-rare inside, on silky corn purée with aged balsamic and crispy guanciale. Paired with that Falanghina, every bite is sunshine and sea salt.
• Iberico pork chop: milk-braised, grilled smoky, glazed with apple mostarda and a touch of Calabrian heat, then showered with fresh parsley. Stupidly juicy. We fought over the bone.
Service is warm, fast, and full of stories (our server even told us about his nonna’s version of the pork chop). Prices are fair for the quality; you leave full, happy, and already planning the next visit.
Capri isn’t just the best Italian in northern Indiana; it’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home. Pure comfort, pure flavor, pure love. 10/10, five bright stars, see you next week.

Capri, Granger, Indiana. An establishment that greets you not merely as a diner, but as a traveler who has wandered—perhaps mistakenly, perhaps fatefully—off the Italian coast and into the warm, amber-lit embrace of Midwestern ambition.

The atmosphere is its triumph. One steps inside and is immediately wrapped in a convivial hum: laughter ricocheting off brick and wood, the clink of glasses sounding like a toast to permanence. This is not a room that rushes you. It invites you to linger, to loosen your tie, to recall a summer you may or may not have actually lived. The walls seem to whisper, Stay awhile. Order another glass.

The wait staff—ah, the wait staff. Attentive without hovering, confident without intrusion. They move with the practiced grace of people who have seen everything and judged nothing. Men and women of quiet professionalism, carrying plates and stories with equal balance. You feel safe in their hands, as though your evening has been personally shepherded.

The food? Good. Solid. Dependable. Once, perhaps, it was a revelation—a dish that made you sit back and stare into the middle distance, questioning your life choices. Now it is more reflective, more restrained. Still satisfying, still enjoyable, but tinged with the faint nostalgia of remembering how astonished you once were. Like rereading a favorite novel and realizing you’ve memorized the best parts.

And then—inevitably—the bathrooms. A journey of contrast. You leave the warmth of the dining room and step into a chamber that recalls a northern Alpine outpost. Cold. Bracing. A reminder of mortality. One washes one’s hands quickly, not out of hygiene alone, but survival.

Yet you return to the table grateful. Capri remains a place of mood, of memory, of comfort. It may not astonish you as it once did, but it welcomes you like an old friend who still pours a good drink, remembers your name, and insists—correctly—that you’ll be glad you came.

This place has been around for along time and not sure how. Granted I probably had a 1 in million bad experience but I'll share it. Food is what I could make at home but better. I'm not a cook. I'm guessing it was all hand made but not fully cooked threw. Service from waiter was good but the manager I think she was had attitude about it. Relax and talk with me not at me. The dining reminds me more of cracker barrel. I like cracker barrel. Not sure if that was the inspiration. Cost was high but I did pay for them to remake my food right.

Capri is the whole deal! Fantastic food - calamari - a table favorite for appi’s. Linguine and white clam sauce, spaghetti and meatballs, gnocchi, chicken piccata - all fabulous! Let us not forget the tiramisu - do not miss! Our server, Tom, was attentive but let us enjoy our time together as a family! Thank you Capri!

We hosted a 50th anniversary party and this establishment. Lisa was very helpful with coordinating the event. The space was nice and open, the service and food were excellent. Would recommend this place for larger groups wanting to enjoy Italian cuisine.

This is an incredibly authentic old school Italian restaurant from the idea that they don't do any advertising through OpenTable they want you to call so they can curate a fabulous experience. Old school waiters waitresses give you wonderful old school vibes I love the roaring fireplace and the cocktails are on point. Much superior to flashy new Italian concepts

Love, love, love this place. First and foremost, the food is outstanding. The staff is fantastic, especially Lisa who have gone to the moon and
Back for us. The wine selection is top notch. Arturo is a gem and makes you feel like part of a big Italian family. Get the Veal. Honestly get anything you want but I suggest that any of the meals with Veal will delight your palette and make you a fan with the first visit. As for wine, they even have Primativo, I mean who has Primativo? Primativo is an early Zinfandel variety, perhaps the wine that the Romans had. Treat yourself with excellence.
