So far the best Italian we have found in South Bend area. Came in late evening and they worked to seat us even though we had no reservation. Pasta was fresh. Salad yummy, dessert good and service was great. Thank you for being so accommodating. We will definitely come back. Made us feel at home. See you next football season!!!?

Was out of town and had a taste for Italian. I’m super happy we found this place. Everything is fresh, and they make their own pasta. We ordered the arancini, ravioli, and chicken marsala. Some of best food I’ve eaten.

What a gem of a gastronomic delight! Appetizer to dessert was absolutely impeccable! The waitress was personable but unobtrusive. The food was second to none and the atmosphere was delightful for such a wonderfully intimate establishment. They had me at the door with the troughs of fresh basil! Cannot wait to get back to South Bend to shovel more delicious items from the menu into my face! Bringing friends this time! Deliziosa!

Simonini Gourmet is the real deal. It is our go-to restaurant in the South Bend area, Italian or not. We have been there several times in the past few years and the food is consistently outstanding and the service very attentive and efficient. Its original incarnation was founded in Chicago 100 years ago, and the family opened this restaurant with the same commitment to their customers as their grandparents. The ingredients are highest quality and it shines through in the dishes. The pizza is as good or better than most in Chicago. I always judge spaghetti and meatballs against my grandma’s and these stand up. Our daughter is at ND, and if someone asks for a restaurant recommendation, we unequivocally say Simonini Gourmet! I only wish it were open on Sunday evenings! And PS- don’t let the strip mall location deter you.
We all decided to splurge. Wine, appetizers , main course and split dessert. The food was fresh, delicious. The service was really good. This will fast become one of your favorite places.

I ordered the pasta carbonara love the fresh pasta but pasta carbonara from Italy is very plain it’s made with pork jowl eggs parm if you want real saucy add more of the pasta water. They use pancetta which is traditional here in the United States they added peas which is OK but I believe they might’ve put some red wine in it although it was tasty I would’ve preferred not to have that. The Arancini was delicious! The server was a little bit on the slow side but she was very nice buck super food to go atmosphere was great… and I have to say very nice bathrooms definitely give this a 4 1/2 stars leave in a little room for them to grow but great experience and I’ll definitely be going back!
