We came here about 2 years ago and it was great. Fast forward to now. We got Riviera Maya gift cards from Costco that you can only use at Riviera Maya so we decided to make another visit here. When we got there around 6:30 on a Thursday evening, there were barely any people in the restaurant. That should've been our first clue. Then we are told it will be a 15 minute wait for some reason even though there is NO ONE there! We finally get seated. It takes like 10 minutes for anybody to acknowledge us. They have a flashing sign advertising 1/2 off the beer wall Tue-Thur so we ask for that- and then the beer wall is not even working. Cool. Here comes the cherry on top- we get the bill and I start to hand over 2 of the gift cards and am told that they no longer take gift cards. Um, excuse me? What kind of stupid nonsense is this. I spent $100 on gift cards that I can never use. Awesome. Apparently they changed ownership and these new owners should be ashamed of themselves. It was also freezing in there. The people next to us had to ask the staff to please turn the AC off. It’s 38 degrees outside. Never coming here again.There is another location in Merrillville and they do not take their own gift cards either! Grrr!!

As a former employee, I highly don’t recommend this place at all whether it is to eat or work. The manager Noemi is very unappreciative of the employees and lacks basic manager skills. She doesn’t seem to understand that her terrible decisions are the reason why some employees, like myself, left. The food isn’t great and overpriced. The kitchen is only cleaned well when they know a health inspector is there to check it out, and even then they were told twice that it still wasn’t in good condition. I really do believe the manager and owners should reevaluate themselves and actually do what it takes to make this place better again.

Since the restaurant changed ownership it did get better but it is going down hill again , as other reviews have mentioned this is a tequila bar with no tequila ,or very overpriced tequila. They make your drinks with wha they claim is good tequila when in reality it is the cheapest things out there . If you ask to upgrade tequila ; they will still make it with the houses cheap tequila. As a server who worked at This riviera maya location I can assure you this is true . In the kitchen none of the veggies are properly disinfected and they do not follow guidelines , none , absolutely none of the cooks had their servsafe as it is required by the state , this is as of march 2024. The pop machine is moldy never cleaned as it should , I could go on and on about disgusting stuff I seen in the kitchenVisit the location and be the judge . Mediocre food with over price cheap tequila or Mezcal drinks

Upon entering the restaurant, I went to wash my hands. There was crap all over the floor and as I spoke out loud to say: what in the world! A man's voice came out of the stall to say he's working! No signage was posted to let patrons know!The server was rude and couldn't communicate properly! I asked for a lime 4 different times! The last time I asked, she was taking our order; but because I asked the last time she stopped taking our order and moved on to the next table. I don't know if she didn't understand what I was saying. I can say that the language barrier was an issue. So you may have to speak Spanish if you want to sit in and eat! English is not understood! Dine-In at your own risk!

The food was not very well seasoned, everything was bland. The drinks were amazing. Customer service was great for a moment then my guest and I waited over an hour for someone to ask about our meal or offer a check before we decided we didn't want to take our leftovers, didn't want another drink, and just wanted the check and barely wanted to leave a tip but did anyway. I would go back for drinks and chips only.

I came with some friends from out of town, bragging how amazing this place was and about the wonderful service.. Needless to say this time I was highly disappointed. The service was HORRIBLE! We made reservations for 8pm, we were there on time and seated right away. But no one came with water or chips or even acknowledged we were there until 8:15. Then we waited another 10 mins for our drink orders to be taken, which took another 15mins to come, and it was incorrect. Noemi who was our server/manager was very unpleasant, unprofessional and Just rude. She didn’t apologize for the wait or for her mistakes. We didn’t get our food until 9:20/9:30pm (they close at 10pm)and it was all cold and still not made right. We didn’t send anything back because at this point we were Starving! Two of the friends were celebrating their birthdays and I wanted them to get the birthday song and shots that they do for you. I wasn’t aware that wasn’t free even without the shots. So on top of waiting over an hour for cold food and horrible service I also get a bill with an extra $20 for something I didn’t ask for.This was by far the worse experience I’ve had ANYWHERE let alone a place I considered my “go to spot”. Noemi needs a customer service class and she shouldn’t be managing anything if this is how she treats her customers.

Came to celebrate my friends and sisters bday. We were sat not attended to for a while then the manager waited on us and she did not help the cause. She was not attentive and seemed a bit frazzled. I have heard this was a nice spot. I did see others come in and get assistance quickly. I am not sure what was going on. Please check in with the customer from time to time.

Previous employee, and have pay stubs to prove it.Owner gets salty about good workers leaving without notice, when the only time they get involved with the restaurant is to eat with his family. Takes money off salary for missing days, but doesn't add extra for the overtime. Has a tequila bar with no tequila inventory everyday, has taps with no beer to serve. Which they don't always have beer in a bottle either, and serve soda out of 2 liters.Though I wouldn't want anything, with the black mold problem this place has, make it make sense.The neglect of this place is appalling. The workers deserve better.
