I came to this place thinking it was a hit based off reviews. I do like to try different places for Jerk so I wanted to give them a shot. First n foremost our meal cost over 50$ and this is my very first time wasting money sad to say. Our chicken was cooked WELL DONE but it tasted reheated to me and there was not a single ounce of jerk seasoning on that meat at alllll. Secondly, the rice n beans had no flavor and was kind of mushy, reminded me of box cooked red beans and rice not unless it was reheated as well. They have mixed veggies and that was the ONLY thing that tasted nice with great seasoning. We also had plantains that we had to pay extra for because apparently at this location the rice n beans is added as a side and not with the main dish as most Caribbean places serve. However, the plantains was not fresh I can tell that they was recooked for it did have a lil stillness to them but looked like they was dropped in an deep fryer it came with a sauce that was actually tasty if the plantains was freshly cooked it would of been a hit. I give this place 4/10 and that’s because the veggies was good and the bartender/server was really nice

Chef Teddian has traveled the world and brought his delicious experience to Hobart. The food is always delicious, and freshly made. He even has his own jerk sauce which is amazing. If you are a fan of bloody marys, get his version that uses his jerk sauce in it.

The food and wait staff are good, but they aren't setup to handle busy times. Friday night, occupancy a little over 50%, and waited ~60 minutes for food.

Long post alert..The service was nice and the atmosphere was welcoming and clean. The menu is very limited and the prices online are not the same as in the restaurant. I found this out when I arrived to pick up my meal. There was a. $10+ increase but they were nice about honoring the price that was on their site. I had the jerk chicken dinner with rice and beans and veggies. I also had the crab cake appetizer and the pineapple upside down cake. Here’s my review..Jerk chicken meal: PROS: the chicken was cooked perfectly. 10/10. The jerk sauce was incredible! I wish the meal came with more than the small cup that came on the side. 1000/10. CONS: the rice and beans was mushy and lacked flavor. Reminded me of Zatarain’s boxed rice. 2/10. Veggies were cooked and flavored very nicely but the portion was extremely small. I’m talking two spoonfuls. For $23, I can’t justify purchasing this meal again but I’d definitely order the chicken as a stand alone item if they offered it, which I was told it is not.Crab 0. My crab cake was mushy and not cooked through. I’m 9 months pregnant and I didn’t want to risk getting sick so I just trashed it. However, the marinated tomatoes were delicious, as well as the avocado sauce served on the side.Pineapple cake: 6/10. The flavors were great but this cake was clearly stale. The texture of the cake was dry and crumbly but the caramel sauce tasted great.Overall, there is definitely room for improvement, but I don’t see myself returning. The price doesn’t match the portions or quality. $12 for one undercooked crab cake and $7 for one slice of stale cake is unacceptable. I’ll stick to my spot in Glen park to satisfy my jerk cravings.

We got the jerk wings, Cajun shrimp linguini and the entree size jerk chicken. It was all absolutely fantastic! There was a perfect amount of jerk seasoning and spice to all plates of food. We also ordered the key lime cheesecake which was also delicious. The service was wonderful. Both ladies running the floor was so delightful and generous to be around. The atmosphere was quaint and homey feeling. I 100% recommend Montego Bay and will definitely be going back.

I dined at this restaurant once before when it first opened and was served “tasteless food with no Caribbean flavor”. I decided to give it a second chance, and I can’t believe it’s actually WORSE than before! I ordered basic basic Jamaican: 6 Jerk Wings & appetizer plantains. Basic Jamaican Right? WRONG!!!!Firstly, it’s not 6 full wings, it’s 6 wing pieces (3 full wings chopped).Secondly, and most importantly the wings are grilled without any jerk flavor, just grilled wings. You have to pour or dip a tasteless low value jerk sauce on the grilled wings for any (j)amaican flavor! Same thing with the sweet plantains no flavor and served with a sweet sauce?????Citizens of Hobart, you’re getting ripped off, this restaurant is NOT serving Jamaican nor Caribbean food. It’s serving grilled fare with cheap tasteless Caribbean sauces masking as flavor. Even if I take a deep drag ?, of Bob Marley this restaurant is HORRIBLE! Do not waste your money. There’s a great Jamaican restaurant in Michigan City by the casino, and a hole-in-the wall take out Jamaican restaurant in Gary on Grant St headed south near Ridge Road. Both of those serve 100% Jamaican Spiced food. The Montego Grill restaurant in Hobart is not Jamaican it’s a JOKE!

Live music and welcoming environment. The server was attentive and accommodating. We ordered the jerk pork and the Cajun pasta along with wings as an appetizer. The food was not bad, though I guess the last time we’ve had jerk pork or jerk chicken was in Jamaica- so our comparison is a bit skewed. The food was nicely charred and the jerk sauce had good flavor. Overall, not a bad experience just don’t know if we liked it enough to return a second time.
