I had been to this restaurant about a year ago, ordered grilled chicken, baked potato and salad and it was pretty good, the service was good as well. Tonight, we arrived, the restaurant had a very strong odd odor, only one waitress in the back and she was doing her best, fried chicken and German fries came out- chicken was bland and the potatoes were ok. We tried to pay up front to help our waitress out and the other waitress was snippy with us.

Hadn’t been in 20 yrs. I was really looking forward to it. I was knowingly served a wrong side by the waitress. I tried to eat it. Couldn’t. When asked, the waitress admitted she knew it was wrong, but still served it. Who does that????? Kinda pricey as well. Ordered German fries, but was served potatoes drowned in vinegar. Gross

We celebrated my father in law’s 80th birthday. A group of 10. All the food was delicious but my favorite is the gizzards and livers. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 50 years. I love the history. Great service as usual

Dined with four family members over the Strassenfest weekend so the restaurant was packed at 5 pm on a Saturday night. I will say that every employee in the establishment were friendly, and working as quickly as they could to serve their guests. I guess because I’m not from the immediate area that I fully get the hype. I ordered the chicken tenders meal which was two medium sized tenders with two sides for $17.00. Add a soft drink tip and you’re looking at a meal for one that was $24.00. I guess if the tenders has been out of this world it would have been amazing, but they were nothing special with their taste from anywhere else. Obviously, this restaurant has a popular following, I guess I’m just not as impressed with it.

We went to Chicken Place when we were in town and let me tell you, those German fries are to die for! My husband loved his fried chicken and my VERY picky chicken tender loving son gave a very enthusiastic TWO THUMBS up. He still talks about them and wishes we were closer so he could have them all the time. And Kristie, our waitress, well she’s a hot dish too! Loved her. Cute lil spot. 10/10 recommend! We would definitely make this a weekly spot if we lived close.

Cannot beat the chicken place! German potato salad, organ trail, and schooners!
The place was busy but not packed. We set in the bar area at a table. We had to wait for a table to be cleaned to be seated (3 tables were dirty). Drinks came fast (at first), but food did not. We waited around 40 minutes before our food arrived. The chicken was a disappointment. ? Our chicken breasts were dry & laking any flavor. The German fried potatoes were partly burt. They were out of hearts, so we were bummed. My husband got the slaw & said it was wonderful. The building is old & decently clean for a building of that age. They do need to make some cosmetic updates. Especially with the ceiling tiles. The employees were nice. They just didn't communicate well with the bartender.

I have been here many times over many years. As a matter of fact I taught school in Ireland in the old school that was located just behind the restaurant in 1970-71. I am only in the area 1 time a year now. I must say that the chicken was fairly bland tonight from the way I remember it. Still tasty, but definitely missing something. The German fries and green beans were tasty however.

I normally only review when I can give 5 stars across the board. Everyone works hard here and it is a neat place. It is like a time capsule to another era. They did everything right it is just that the chicken has very little flavor. It is not well seasoned and definitely doesn't have 11 herbs and spices. We are traveling and searching for the best fried chicken in the U.S. and this place is not in the top ten. I still liked the restaurant and the people.
