Best burger I've ever eaten, hands down. Service was excellent as well.

We were on a short trip from Chicago to visit a family member and although we had a big breakfast and still weren’t quite hungry by the end of the night, we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to try this restaurant.
Everything was absolutely amazing and we finished every single last bite.

Antelope burger - 10/10
Wagyu burger - 10/10
Fries w/ truffle oil - 10/10 (no extra salt needed - they know how to properly salt!)
Sweet potato fries - 10/10
Bone marrow - 10/10

We would have loved to try the food because it sounded delicious. We were immediately sat in a room with four other tables that were in varying stages of their meals. And we sat. And sat. No one came to take our drink order or even acknowledged our presence. The restaurant wasn't slammed; there were two employees at the bar on their phones. We got up and left, and took our business elsewhere.

The burgers were terrific. Our server was phenomenal, incredibly helpful and really went out of his way to explain the best way to order. We had the nachos and the scotch eggs to start. I wasn't a huge fan of the nachos but everyone else was. While not a traditional scotch egg, those were out of this world. The burgers were all great. I had the wild boar, my wife had the antelope, and others at the table had the wagyu, angus, and bison burgers. Most of us got them the way they are built on the menu and I highly recommend that. The Christmas decor was really nice too. Very cozy spot.

I've only been there twice so far, but I wish I could give this establishment a significantly higher rating. My boyfriend introduced this restaurant to me a couple of months ago and I'm so happy he did. My first experience eating here was wonderful. I had never tried many of their menu options, so I chose to stay on the safer side and order a wagyu cheeseburger and tried kangaroo for the first time (just a meatball.) Today I ate frog legs for the first time and ate a kangaroo burger. Delicious! The service has been wonderful, and we definitely enjoy spending our date nights there.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Game on the River, and it was an exceptional experience. I tried their kangaroo burger on a brioche bun, and it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The combination of mixed greens, raw onion, herbed goat cheese, grilled pineapple, and bone marrow mayo created a perfect balance of flavors. The burger was juicy and packed with unique taste. We left feeling fully satisfied and excited to return and sample more of their diverse meat options.

I had the pleasure of dining here today and witnessed a situation that I feel compelled to clarify. While I was there, a group of customers were extremely rude, using profanity, and even threatening the server. Despite this, the staff, particularly the manager Ari, handled the situation with remarkable professionalism and composure.

The customers were clearly agitated from the start and seemed intent on causing a scene. I did not see any of the inappropriate behavior that these reviews mentioned. In fact, Ari remained calm and respectful throughout, despite being provoked. It’s disappointing to see such inaccurate and unfair reviews when the truth is, the staff was doing their best in a very challenging situation.

I highly recommend The Game on the River for its great food and excellent service. The staff deserves recognition for their hard work, especially in the face of such unwarranted negativity.

My family and I were out for lunch and they messed up two of our dishes and the manager Ari treated us very badly. The worst service we have ever had just from her. She was snatching our food from us, had an attitude towards us, and finally she was waving and putting her hands all in our faces. Will not ever come back.

this is by FAR one of the worst restaurant I have been to in a long time .. my mother politely asked the manager about her nasty attitude and she responded to her by talking with her hands very nasty and very rude .. not demure or classy in the least .

Possibly one of the best meals I've had. The scotch eggs with pork belly are amazing. I had the Duck burger, which was very good. And we devoured the S'mores tower in minutes. There gram crackers are home made and extremely good.

WHAT.A.MEAL!! From the second we walked in to the moment we left, this was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had! Our server was absolutely incredible...taking the time to explain everything to a couple of noobs that are adventurous about eating, but clueless about ordering LOL. He was patient and kind, explaining tastes and how expertly prepared our meals would be. The food was out of this world...we ate scotch eggs, elk, kangaroo, yak, wild boar and nachos. Every morsel was better than the last. Do not pass this place by if you're in the area. What a find!!
