First time at Barrel Heads. Went because a co-worker lives close by and wanted to get gift certificate for them. Nice atmosphere. The bar area was busy but not too crowded and the dining area was half full. Service was attentive. My wife and were not real hungry so we decided to split the grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. Food was excellently prepared, piping hot and delicious. It did take a rather long time to arrive which surprised us as it wasn't that crowded but worth the wait. We were told up front that there would be an extra charge to split the sandwich. We were taken aback by this. I have seen this employed in high end dining establishments but not in casual dining. $6 to bring us an extra plate! That was excessive to me and put a real damper on what was a very nice dining experience. Not sure that we will go back unless we are hungry enough to order separately. Very disappointing.
I went here for lunch with friends after attending a local event. The food was delicious! The grilled cheese with meatloaf and with brisket were amazing! Also the sweet potato fries with the warm bourbon glaze was great! Outside dining available weather permitting. Full barParking: Right outside the door. ♿️ available
It was a first time visit to this establishment for us with my brother and his wife. Huge interior open floor plan yet divided into a dining section bourbon bar area and a beer bar with dining table area as well. Numerous Televisions for watching sporting events. Outdoor seating and dining areas, ample parking with handicap parking sites and access. Plus they have high chairs and on-line ordering and pickup with Doordash or Curbside.Great service, great appetizers and wonderful entrées making for a delightful dining experience. We had just about every different type of protein that was on the menu: Steak, ½ rack ribs, Wagyu Burger, and Snapper. This restaurant will be very easy to highly recommend to potential customers ? ?
*** 09/25/22 *** Changing from 3 stars to 1 star after our 09/08/22 visit where we paid $100.26 (with tax & tip) for 1 OK mixed drink, 2 glasses of water, 2 apps, 1 entree salad and 1 entree burger. ~~~ ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!! ~~~ I really wanted to like this place as it's close to home and it's not a chain... but we could have gone to a mid-tier steakhouse for just a few bucks more and had a much nicer dinner. The interior is fine, but nothing special. Nothing offensive, but nothing really interesting to me. Unfortunately our table and are around it was sticky. Service was OK at best. They weren't busy, so there was no reason why we had to wait for drink refills. The food was just that... food. It wasn't seasoned or cooked well, but it was mostly edible. For example, my burger was over cooked and my wife's salad was full of ribs and wilted leaves. Just underwhelming all around especially for the price point. *** Original Review *** Had heard good things so tried a to-go order for lunch this afternoon. For nearly $40 (with tip), I expected better. My BNB burger was cooked fine, but it looked like a standard food service frozen patty, and it definitely WAS NOT a "smash burger" as the menu indicated. The sweet potato fries were pretty good, but the mac and cheese was not. The cheese sauce was OK, but the noodles were complete mush. My wife's brussel sprouts were cooked well, but completely lacked seasoning. They're a convenient location for us, plus they're not a chain... we really wanted to like BH more. Maybe we'll try again, but dine in instead.
So glad we took date day to barrel heads! Their food was spectacular! Portion sizes were generous and all food was made fresh. I did not get a picture of the bison chili but it was absolutely delicious!!!
Ordered the Garlic & Wine Chicken Fettuccini, Orange Creamsicle drink, side salad - DELICIOUS!!! Husband ordered the pecan crusted New York Strip which was a perfect medium rare, just as ordered. We shared the warm blackberry crisp for dessert which was TO DIE FOR!! All topped with great service and a ‘check in’ from the owners to make sure our meal was perfect. Highly recommend!!
2 Stars for the decor of restaurant, it’s cute. Pickle Fries (appetizer) was tasty and earned 2 or more stars, would’ve been more had you received $11.00 worth. Of course the tone was set immediately upon being greeted by the waitress, and I mentioned to her how super hot it was in the restaurant. She walked over to the thermostat and told me it was 80 and that’s the best it would be, they have too many windows letting the sun heat the place up, even though all windows had shades and they were down. She said she’d tell her (I’m assuming boss or owner) but that she doubts it will be lowered. I see from other reviews, someone else mentioned it was hot and they were told AC problems. This was a review from 3 weeks ago. So, they either haven’t fixed the problem or don’t have the problem. Looking at the prices on the menu, especially their Entree prices, you’d think they could afford to have it comfortable in there. The waitress did bring me a small portable fan for my table, probably the boss idea when she asked to turn ac down.. Had I not been so hot, I wouldn’t of accepted it. But it was welcomed and did appreciate that. The tip I left was for that. I usually leave generous tip, but her service was poor and rude arrogant like beyond that, and I tipped accordingly, I will not be back. Oh and the hot slaw is just that, HOT… pan fried with balsamic something or other. Definitely not what you expect when you order Hot Slaw.
First time surprised by nice quality food choices. Not typical sports bar crap food. Highly suggest.
Date Night at Barrel Heads! This is our first time here and they have been open 7 months. They are new to the area and the bourbon bar/food seen. In my humble opinion they are killing it! We started our meal with a smoked old fashioned. They smoke it in front of you! Next we moved onto the smoked wings. These were the best smoked wings we have had. They are crispy, smokey and tender. They stand by their flavor and the sauce ( your choice) is on the side. Carey Cole got the Nashville Hot Chicken and I got the chicken and waffles. Both were delicious. Y'all this chicken and waffles is a full belgium style waffle, 3 fried chicken cutlets covered in hot honey and served with hot bacon slaw and mashed potatoes ( I subbed out the mashed potatoes for french fries). We also enjoyed and shared the 10 year bourbon flight as a night cap. I brought home the bourbon bread pudding to eat later, but it smells wonderful! We will be back. You should try it too!
The bourbon selection is impressive. The drinks were well made and really good, the painkiller and the blood orange bourbon mash were my favorites. The food was fantastic, the staff was very friendly, service was fast and the atmosphere of the place was welcoming. I will be going back and recommend this place highly.
This was our families 3rd visit around 7 pm. Changed to new menu which was terrible. Meatloaf was over cooked and dry, Mac and cheese was over cooked, Fish and chips was over cooked and dry. 2 Steaks were so charred my family members would not eat. Terrible service, waitress made one trip on drinks and never came back. Would not recommend this place. Kind of like Bay View grill which recently closed the doors after a single year. Just a side note $34 for a steak is too much unless its good. HD Cornett 10211 SR 48 Aurora, In 47001.
This place needs to get their act together. Bad service and bad food. This is not meat loaf it was beef jerky.
The food was great! I don't think you can go wrong with anything. We had these nachos and pickle fries to share. We each had a different burger with fries and it was almost too much to eat altogether. The burgers were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The fries had a delicious seasoning on them. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. I definitely recommend checking this place out!
Emily was a great attentive server! We tried the Pretzels and Pickle fries and they were hot and delicious. We got the Smoked meatloaf dinner and Bourbon burger. My drink was the Pain killer everything was executed perfectly. Excited to go back?
The positive: The food is good. The bourbon selection is good. The overall decor is nice. The not-so-good: The service is spotty. I've had mixed results, but nothing spectacular so far. One experience wasn't bad, but it was below average. The fact that they do the smoked cocktail at the table is cool though.
