If you ever had real Chinese food steer clear of this place.
I'm not exaggerating please read the 1 star reviews and don't ignore them like we did. The orange chicken was gross, the general tso was a cheap sweet sauce. Nothing was what it should be, I'm pissed I gave the family the option to do take out here.
Don't believe me? Our dog wouldn't eat it. Not a euphemism I'm being serious 2/3 of our food ended up her bowl and she smelled it and walked away.
Please listen, go get a burger down the street or something from Chili's or the pubs near by. Save your stomach and wallet from this place!!!

The best Chinese takeout in LaPorte county. Food is always fresh, portions are great, and service is as quick as possible while still taking the time to make sure the orders are correct. It’s a takeout spot, the inside may not look great but it is no nonsense. Always great.

This was the worst Chinese take experience I’ve ever encountered. I ordered chicken lo mein combination but instead received orange chicken and yellow rice that was cold and looked as if it were sitting out all day. I don’t even believe it was edible. 0 outta 10 would not recommend unless you have an appetite for disappointment

I’ve been here plenty of times but this was the last time. yesterday I bought chicken fried rice, shrimp egg foo young, and orange chicken from China One. Frankly the food was the pits. The food was beyond dry, the chicken was tough, and the sauce for the shrimp egg foo young was a strange consistency. When I called to tell them how awful the food was, the manager just said “he’ll pay attention.” They were unaccommodating and defensive, telling me that they followed the recipe. Take your money else where, at least to a place where they’d care about their customers’ experience.

All week I wanted Chinese and while we was on our trip at Four Winds casino Hotel we went looking for Chinese restaurant and the food was delicious I ordered sweet N sour chicken with lomain noodles and 2 egg rolls and my fiance ordered beef and broccoli and was real good. Lady that took my order was very nice and patient.
I enjoyed it. Good food, for the most part. The spare ribs have little bbq on them, they're mostly dry. They don't have plain spring rolls or shrimp toast. Will keep looking for a food Chinese restaurant in Michigan City. The Gourmet House is worse than this, by far!
I placed a nearly $48 order today online and I got no food/nothing! Restaurant was clueless about my missed order-did not care at all. Got a burger instead.Rude and not very polite or even nice when I go there for take-out which I rarely do and will not ever again after nearly $48 spent tonite and no food. I will post more reviews of this restaurant. You have far better choices for Chinese food. They deserve a 0 Review. Please Don't waste your time or $$ on this place!

So disappointed with the hot sour soup! It was not at all spicy nor sour. It barely had any flavor! Why is it so hard to find good hot sour soup? Not much flavor in the beef chop suey either, very bland.
