My wife and I visit Michigan City a half dozen times each year. We stay at the Blue Chip Hotel Casino. Most of our dining is done on property, but we usually stop for a meal in the area on each trip. Today we found Dune Billies when we searched breakfast near me. We were very fortunate to find this place. We went there on a Friday, and it was very busy but there was a table open. I ordered the Captain's breakfast My wife ordered the French toast with walnuts and bourbon glazed bananas. My breakfast came with brown sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, and potatoes. I consider myself a biscuits and gravy connoisseur, and this was some of the best I have ever had. My wife made a rookie mistake. she let me try her French toast, and I managed to eat easily 1/3 of her breakfast 😂 although the restaurant was busy, Alex our server managed to take our order and get our breakfast to us very quickly. We always enjoy a visit to Michigan City. Now we will be making Dune Billies a regular stop. Maybe next time we will even take home one of their renowned whole quiches!
So fresh and delicious- you have to get the Muffins and the pot pie to go
We heard about this place while traveling in the Michiana area, and we are so thankful someone recommended it to us. The food was fresh and super delicious, the atmosphere was fun, colorful, filled with local art and very cozy and the staff was welcoming and efficient. Definitely try the quiche and the Mt Baldy French toast, excellent baked goods as well. We will definitely be back next time we’re passing through:)
Excellent gluten free breakfast sandwich! Nice homey atmosphere, quick service.

Went at about 1130 on a Sunday at the beginning of October, with 6 people. Only waited about 15 minutes. Sat outside at a picnic table with an umbrella. Downfall, the Suns was a blazing.
It was still so worth it!! The coffee was so good & I am so picky about my coffee. They offered us a blueberry muffin to try. Michael, our server, said he made it. I could have eaten the entire muffin myself, so fresh!
The table had a turkey BLT, the sausage quiche, the captains dish (I loved the potatoes in this does, cooked crispy), began with egg and they accommodated the sandwich with bacon instead of sausage, so told it was so light and fresh. They had a special chicken salad. I was told it was very good, and the croissants tasted homemade.
Purchased a spinach quiche and pot pie to take home. Both are so very delicious! Also, took home the special crumble and it looks amazing, just too full to try.
Service was nice, refills in coffee and water. They were patient and easy to accommodate any requests.
They offer quiches and pie for purchase whole for $30. Highly recommend for those looking for something to bring to the beach out for a light breakfast or for a dessert. This place is a 10 out of 10 for me.

Service, food and atmosphere are outstanding. The corn beef hash with a side of their homeade gravy is too die for. You won't regret giving this spot a try. It's a ture gem in Michigan city! Outdoor seating, unlimited coffee. You can't go wrong.

Nice local restaurant. Quite busy so the wait can be long but food is worth it in my opinion.

Get off the beaten path in Michigan City, IN, and meander you way just south of Sheridan Park to the treasure that is Dune Billies Cafe. You can't miss it as you are met with a kaleidoscope of colors adorning the long front porch that beckons you in. But this is not all they have to offer.
The food is absolutely delicious here. Whether it's breakfast or lunch you seek, you won't be disappointed. My friend and I shared the Biscuits and Gravy dish and the Ham and Spinach Eggs Benedict that had us experiencing food nirvana in
no time.
Our food was delivered quickly despite the fact that they were packed with customers. The service was excellent and the ambience was simply magical. You owe it to yourselves to experience Dune Billies at your earliest convenience!

This is a very lovely diner! Be advised that this is decidedly not a sit-and-sip cafe; I was under the mistaken assumption that this was a quirky coffee joint and it is in fact a restaurant lol.

Great place. Even the cat was friendly. Parking, not so good but I think it was my timing. A bit out of the way but well worth the effort. We WILL be back!

I was recently in town for Labor Day weekend.my family and I love to find local eateries. Upon reading the reviews on this place it sounded too good to be true. We were blown away!
My son got the biscuits and gravy, my daughter eggs and fruit, my wife got biscuits and gravy with eggs, I got the burrito.
Everyone loved their meal, I am a bit of a foodie, and I was blown away by the flavor in this burrito! ?
Service was fast, attentive, informative, happy (not everyone is always happy at work) overall it was just fantastic! If I come back to Michigan city, I’m coming back here!

Combined with the perfect weather, my experience at Dune Billies couldn't have been better. The quiche was the best I've ever had and the crust was flaky like a biscuit.
