My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised to find such a delicious meal in a small town like Michigan City, We started with potato cakes and a pierogi sampler, The potato cakes were light and crispy and seasoned just right. All of the pierogi were delicious but I preferred the one filled with mushroom. Meals come with soup or salad. My vegetable beef noodle soup was clearly house-made. It was intensely beefy-in a good way. My wife enjoyed a salad with the house dill ranch dressing....
We are from New Hampshire, We love to travel and try local establishments over chain restaurants. There are always American, Chinese, Italian, Thai to be found along with Pubs & Grilles. When I came across The Polish Peasant, indicating authentic Polish cuisine hand made daily by the owners I knew I had to make reservations. The food was absolutely amazing. The portions more than one can eat in a single seating. The prices, more than reasonably priced....
Can’t believe I was born and raised in SW Michigan and never ate here. Very small quaint authentic polish restaurant but be prepared to wait, server told us they can’t get enough help which is extremely unfortunate but very common to the area, so they are only open 4-8pm 4 days a week. And it’s super busy and they are very stretched so everything takes time. But very good food.
