Trip’s is quickly becoming one of my favorite places in Michigan City. Their menu is very unique, and everything I’ve tried so far has hit the mark. They also have one of the best old fashioned’s in town.

**Beware if you have allergies or dietary restrictions!** My partner and I were in town and chose to have lunch at Trip’s Tree House because they advertised vegan options. We are both vegan and I have a severe dairy allergy. We ordered a pizza and told the server we want it totally vegan…and I specified: with vegan cheese, no parmesan or mozzarella cheese (looking back I wish I made a bigger deal about it and explained that I have an allergy). I was immediately suspicious when our pizza arrived because it didn’t look or smell like vegan cheese. I asked our server if she was sure they used vegan cheese on our pizza, and without a second thought she replied, YES! To their credit, it was delicious pizza. Unfortunately, not vegan. I only ate a few bites because I was still not convinced it was dairy free. It was way too stretchy. But I was still unsure so I didn’t say anything else to our server (besides, she had already dismissed my concerns). On our drive home to Michigan, I started experiencing my usual symptoms of swelling in my mouth, excessive saliva, extreme heartburn, and I was finally certain it was an allergic reaction. Even after taking medication, I was sick for the next 24 hours. To be fair, I know it’s a new restaurant and I believe our server was one of the hostesses. Just posting this so management knows to take dietary restrictions more seriously (and explain to their staff what “vegan” entails). A reminder if you have allergies, ALWAYS tell your server!

The atmosphere is great. The food is so-so. Service is brutally slow. Offered no napkins or silverware - had to ask for them, twice. I was so hoping for better.

This place is a disaster and I am really trying to be nice. Cold food, terrible service! The quality of the food does not match the higher than average prices.We felt like they forgot about us for most of the time that we were there. Don’t waste your time going here. It won’t be long for this world anyway. Not trying to be mean, just being honest.

Beware of MSG. The service from Willy & Kevin was Excellent! We ordered the Trips Pie Pizza. When it was served, it was loaded w/ arugula & it looked more like a salad. As we ate, we tried to identify the flavor of what gave the pizza a different flavor & we couldn't. The pizza was good, but... by the time we got home we both had a headache. My headache lasted into the morning hours w/ no sleep & my eye became swollen. My friends headache turned into a migraine & lasted until the next day. Both of us are sensitive to MSG, so this must have been a reaction to MSG or some other additives. There was no WARNING on the menu.

What a great gem we stumbled across on Rte. 12. - Tripp's Treehouse. They offer a great lunch menu and amazing Bloody Mary's. It was a rainy, dreary day when we went there but they have lots of outdoor activities to enjoy in good weather. Of course, the bestest highlight is the actual giant tree growing in the bar up through the roof.

I wish I could give negative stars. Service was very bad. Waited for ever, felt like I got forgot about. Had to ask several time to get drinks. Crab legs were bad, not fresh, I was afraid to eat it. Priced very high, $85 and less the a pound of on edible crab legs that they still charged me for. Crazy I would not recommend. 0/10

Mackenzie was our waitress but she wasnt originally. shes just such a hard worker she took us over.. food was good and drinks were better! she was so excited when i told her to surprise me on my drink. great restaurant

not gonna knock them as bad because they’re new, but my Caesar salad was gas station quality for $11 and very brown, but we pointed it out and they immediately removed it from the bill (saved themselves a star) we didnt even get served water for 15+ mins. brussel sprouts were very good though. so nice place to come for cocktails, beer and brussel sprouts
