Absolutely the Worst Chinese food ever. All the Chefs there need to go back to cooking school. I Can’t believe they’re open.

Many locals recommended this place after the sudden closing of our regular spot of 20+ years so we gave it a try. No thank you. I placed the order online and was given a pick up time of about 25 minutes. When I went in to pick up my order, the whole place was very dark and it was super cold in there (like was the heat even on kind of cold). I was informed by a very polite man at the counter that there was a delay in the orders due to staffing issues. After another 30 minutes sitting in their lobby with several other annoyed customers, my order was finally ready. We decided to try our usual entrees and a couple of apps ($67 total). Both the Hong Sui and lobster sauce were soooo dark & that should've been our first clue that this was going to be an issue. Holy soy sauce Batman! The beef satay was an order of 4 skewers, cold, gristle, salty. The chicken wings were plain fried chicken - not bad but nothing notable. The shrimp and lobster sauce was full of a ton of shrimp and meat which was nice, but the amount of salt/soy made it difficult to eat. The Hong Sui chicken had large, beautiful chunks of breaded and fried chicken breast and fresh vegetables so I was excited but again the amount of sodium made it impossible to enjoy. After one piece of chicken, I was done. The shining star was the order of stir-fried green beans, which again were doused in soy sauce but a little more balanced due to the addition of some white rice. Overall, it was a miss for my family and I will not be returning. Inaccurate order times, cold food, salt bomb.

The food here at Fortune House in Munster is as good as it always has been. We recently ordered a pair of large combination fried rice as well as a few orders of combination egg rolls, and everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious as well. Highly recommended! Daniel is a great guy as well. Give them a chance and support your local small business at the same time!

Thanks Andrew! My family appreciates the fact of you being a God fearing person at the counter and having patience with phone calls and customers! Customers be patient with the Fortuen House staff, they're limited but strong! Remember you're asking THEM to cook your meals! You want great service then have a better attitude! The staff is on short supply for 2024 so bear with them.. #wearenotpickedwearechosen

I am new to the area and trying out the local Chinese restaurants in my neighborhood. This was my first stop.I purchased A large chicken fried rice, a large sweet-and-sour chicken, and a large teriyaki chicken and spent about $39. The only thing worth eating again would be the chicken fried rice. The sweet & sour chicken was cut into big chicken chunks almost like a chicken tender but not quite - like an oversized chicken nugget. The large box was also not full and only had about 8-9 nuggets. I did love the sweet & sour sauce though and how it comes with the bell peppers. I purchased this dish to split amongst 3 people and it was not nearly enough. The teriyaki chicken was more like teriyaki chicken soup! The chicken came in a bowl full of syrup and you needed to use a slotted spoon to serve or drain it so you can actually eat any. We just tossed it out it wasn’t worth it.I ordered online which was nice that this service was available. I asked for no pork in the shrimp egg roll which was not available and I like how the business called to communicate and then refunded me for the egg rolls. Staff was friendly but overall the food disappointed me and my family so we will not be returning any time soon.Dietary restrictions: Egg rolls are premade with shrimp and pork. Veggie only option if you do not eat pork for egg rolls.

Orange chicken tasted like mush. The sauce was like gelatin with no orange flavor at all. The egg rolls were cooked in old oil making them over saturated and dark. Crab Rangoon was mediocre at best, with no sauce to pair. The potstickers were slimey inside and the sauce was like a concentrated soy sauce, basically just salt water. I would recommend the white rice, it was the only part of the meal I could stomach.

We ordered chicken fried rice, pan fried rice, and crab rangoon. We went to the restaurant and ordered and was told it would be an hour wait. We go back to pick up the food just to be told she gave our food to someone else and we had to wait another hour for our food. Mind you we already paid. Refused any discount. Service is trash! The food was not the best the crab Rangoon was very over cooked, hard, and cold. The only fried rice was extremely dry and the sauce to go with it on the side tasted like hot dog water. Do NOT waste your money.

Please READ!! Call in and order, you might receive your food in an hour. Went in and ordered a small shrimp fried rice and an egg roll. The lady told me a 15 to 20 min wait. Ok fine, I'm use to that. 20 mins come, still waiting. More people coming getting extremely big orders and I'm still just waiting. 30 mins come she says "oh im gonna tell them to make it now" NOWWW???! then 45 mins and after watching so many come in and get orders that were huge, I just requested a refund. I get being under staffed but stop taking orders until your kitchen catches up. Money hungry and greed are two things I can't do.
