Had the Chop Salad! Wonderful ambiance.
New owner sure did a great job on the front of house but the back of house is disgusting. Food from bags and old food being reused. Moldy bread and undercooked chicken. Avoid at all cost....
If you plan to attend a play and the Sunday Brunch please do yourself a favor and buy the package that offers both. This way you will be given 'preferred ' seating prior to the show. We weren't aware of this and arrived to a packed room full of people waiting an hour + for seating. We ran over to the fudge/candy shop to find something for my diabetic husband to eat before the play. The play was enjoyable but we had to leave at intermission to find him some food, not snacks or candy. Every restaurant near closes early or aren't open on Sunday and a few others open at 4pm. Luckily gas stations are open to grab a pre- made sandwich. Side note: women were given Mothers Day carnations at the reservations desk but the non helpful man didn't give me one. Most likely because I voiced my opinion about not being able to eat prior to the play. Real gentlemanly! I hope he treats his own mother with a bit more respect! We will NEVER return.
I gave the food in the restaurant a 4 because for the price, my chicken and dumplings was a fairly small portion. However, their berry vinaigrette salad dressing was fabulous...and the 4 pack of maple cinnamon rolls that I bought to take home with me were beyond amazing!!! If I ate here again, I would eat something other than the chicken and dumplings...but I would DEFINITELY buy MULTIPLE boxes of the cinnamon rolls.
We were in the area for a family wedding and went over to Amish Acres for a late breakfast one day. We weren’t sure they were even open because the parking lot was almost empty. Our server told us they had just begun to open earlier and word still needed to get out. The brunch buffet had lots of options and our server (Esther) was very attentive even though we were the only people in their huge, lovely dining room. The rate was a little pricey (at $24 each) but we were happy to pay it to encourage the staff and let them know we appreciated that they were open and left a nice tip, too. We hope the ‘normal crowds’ return soon.
We had to change our choice of eating after the play to eating at noon rather than at 5 pm, (on a Sunday) so we had to have the brunch rather than a dinner. The brunch was only ok....the eggs were over done and scrambled, they did have a variety of other foods so that was helpful. The desserts were very good but did lack some flavor. the oatmeal cookies had no flavor and seemed a little too dry. On the other hand the wait staff were great!
The new owners of the Amish Acres restaurant have taken it back and there is no more LaSalle farm and table. The new menu includes many or most of the old Amish Acres items. They now have a buffet on the weekends (brunch style on Sundays). The buffet is great with fried chicken, roast beef, beef and noodles, etc etc. $19.95 and includes your drink. The food was delicious!! This is a huge improvement over the LaSalle deal. There is a new steakhouse on the upper level I haven't tried yet but will soon. The service by Amanda was great and the staff make you feel welcome. Welcome back Amish Acres restaurant. The bakery is making a comeback too! Give them a try!!
We were here 2 years ago but it was nothing then like it is now. There is something on the menu for anyone from salmon to the best brisket and steaks. Prices are a little higher than national steakhouse chains but the portions and quality are well worth the difference. The wait staff was fun and very helpful. I will definitely be going back.
Food was absolutely delicious!!!
We really enjoyed our experience here. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The food was very good but could have been a bit warmer. The harvest salad was so good. I could have eaten a huge bowl and been done. Delicious! I had broasted chicken. I agree with others: it didn’t have much flavor (except for the skin). The brisket was very tender and lean. Mashed potatoes and stuffing were the best. I usually eat cornbread stuffing now that I live in the south, but the “white bread” stuffing was a delicious reminder of my days growing up in Indiana. We had lemon meringue pie. The meringue was high, light, and tasty. The lemon layer was a little too much like lemon jello. But I ate it nonetheless :). I would definitely return!

Very good food and great service! Definitely recommend!
The restaurant has changed names, ownership, and menu. We really enjoyed our experience here. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. We have gone for the last 15 years to dinner and the Christmas play and were there this past weekend for the same. The play was great as usual. However, the gift shop in the restaurant is now wine tasting. The farm feast, formerly thrashers dinner, was not worth it! It used to be family style and now you get to pick 2 meats and they put your sides on the plate. The fresh bread is now precooked rolls, there was no relish or apple butter. My chicken was pink inside, the brisket was really fatty. The beef and noodles portion was very small and lacked flavor. I felt like they lost the homemade country feel of what Amish Acres was known for and are trying to be a high class gourmet restaurant that is mediocre at best. My children who have gone every year since they were young both said they don't want to go back next year because the changes were so disappointing.
We came here for Thanksgiving dinner and with no reservation we got seated for dinner. It was a bring to your table buffet starting with bread and salad. Good so far. When the entrees came out, the turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole we're barely warm. We sent them back. The mashed potatoes were very salty, the turkey and ham were avarage and we took the fried chicken home with us. The lemon meringue pie was great and the pecan pie just ok. 2 stars for an average meal while paying $30 a head. Good service but I don't feel it was worth the cost, but thankful for a place to dine on a holiday.
Sorry I tried to like this place but it is a ghost of its former self. The last two times I have been there the food is cold. Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans all cold. Not worth the drive for $20.00 a plate. Everything else is extra, no salad, no bread. Service is friendly. The pie tastes like it was store bought. The bakery is gone too. And they have muzak for music UGH. I have written to the website/management to complain but never received a response so they evidently don't care. This place is nothing like it used to be. The only food item from the original Amish Acres is the threshers dinner which is now called the Farm Feast. Everything else on the menu is like upscale food. Amish Acres restaurant RIP.
