I'm the only one in the family who likes Chinese food, so haven't had it in a while and this was my first visit to Happy Dragon. I had the sesame chicken and it was good - the portion size was phenomenal. I think I can get three meals out of it. The only issue - and it was my fault - is that I forgot to specify fried rice. White rice is disappointing. You can dine in, but the ambiance is such that I wouldn't; you'll be sitting amongst mostly people waiting for takeout. Very small and the order window is a makeshift plexiglass set up - kind of weird.

The restaurant was quite small with only a few (maybe 5) tables. Our order was taken quickly and the food was a great price. I went with a group of three and ordered the super popular platter. The food took around 20 minutes to be prepared, which is to be expected when everything is made to order. We got so much food for a great price. You could definitely feed a family of four with all the food we got. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Happy was I. My goal for the new year is to eat healthy. As I drove, I saw and thought about KFC, Wings, Everbowl, Wendy's, and then how about Happy Dragon. I hoped that they have a healthy entrée option as I recently found at Taste of China. I was happy that they do and on my side of town! As with any non-American restaurant, there is a bit of a language barrier so I was instructed to look at the paper menu, which is where I discovered the dieter's menu section indicating without oil, STARCH, and salt. Their operating hours changed to M-Th 10:30 AM - 9 PM, F-Sat. 10:30 AM - 10 PM, Sun. 11:30 AM - 9 PM. I got there soon before closure. I ordered takeout of steamed chicken and vegetables (except for water chestnuts) for $9.50. Their sauce came on the side which I did not like the taste. I later learned that the entrée came with celery which I would ask next time to hold, too. The other veggies were carrots, green bell pepper, broccoli, snow peas, mushroom, onion, and baby corn. The entrée came with a takeout container of white rice, which I wish I could order brown rice instead. The entrée was enough for over 2 meals. I was not given a fortune cookie. So, I am giving them 4 stars. I would like to return for their lunch specials, but they use vegetable oil (which I do not believe is better than them choosing not to use MSG). I wish they would use sesame oil.

I ordered tonight via DoorDash & all my food was great. It's a small shop, so best for pickup or delivery, though there's a couple small tables. Service was very fast. My order was ready for pickup in about 10 mins. Luckily I live right down the street & the food was still hot once I put it on my plate. I'm vegetarian & ordered the sautéed tofu with vegetables, vegetable lo mein noodles, and spring rolls. All tasted great and seemed freshly made. It's food like this that helps me not miss meat. The sauce was perfection! Tofu cooked just so! Plenty of vegetables (mostly broccoli)! I wanted to show the restaurant some love since there's mixed reviews here & the most recent one was pretty yikes. This was my second time ordering here, and both times it was 5-stars.

So this place is usually a solid 3-4 star joint. Generic Chinese food in a strip mall, good prices, fast service. However, my lunch today was inedible. I got the Hunan Beef lunch combo. It was clearly yesterday's beef with broccoli. Tasted nasty, sauce was gelatinous (congealed and cold). The "pork fried rice" didn't have a single piece of pork in it. I won't be coming back. So gross. There's another place like 1/2 mile further from my house that is consistently better, albeit slightly more expensive. I'll gladly pay for food I can actually eat.

Wow. I had been to happy dragon about 10-12 years ago and it just wasn't very good. I was never back. Recently a friend mentioned she had been doing there so I gave it a shot and wow it was amazing. Glad I gave it a second chance as they have made some great changes there .. food was amazing and I'll be back.
