DO NOT recommend this Campground. It’s more of a trashy trailer park…go on google reviews and really read them. This place isn’t what the pictures look like, it’s completely ran down, the beach is tiny and the water is disgusting. Thank god the Indiana Dunes were close along with a Water Park 30 minutes away. DO NOT stay at this place it’s a joke and you’d be better off staying in a Walmart parking lot!!!
Had a reservation for this past weekend (staying 1 night). We arrived a bit early and tried to see if we could check in early. Girl at the front gate told us that we would not be able to so. I understand that early check-ins are not always accommodated but what we couldn't understand is why we couldn't at least go through the gate to turn around. Instead, we had to back up with cars behind us. Shortly after doing so, another camper arrived for what appeared to be an early check-in and they appeared to be let in. After not being allowed to come through just to turn around and the appearance of the place we decided to forgo our reservation and drive the rest of the way home. Was not impressed and would not recommend.
get rid of human waste smell. have residents clean their property.
Don't waste your money. The staff is rude and its smells like sewer waste. It is almost as if they look for reasons to yell at you. It is catered to the residents. first night there, alot of portage police were there looking for someone for possible stabbing. The kids were miserable as the things were shut down during the week and the pool was dirty. They did not want to swim in it. There is also alot of kittens/cats roaming around (which is expected as it is a trailer park) but they are very sick. We reported a very sick kitten who looked like flies were eating him as he walked around and would not leave our site. They did not care. Another cat walking around with a broken leg it looked like. you would think they would call animal control especially since we reported it to the front desk people. The only pros were the bathrooms were very clean and the showers were nice. Do not go off off facebook pictures and the residents reviews! we camp at a lot of places and never had a negative experience.
Glorified trailer park! Not a resort at all besides the terrible human waste smell Due to being next to a sewer plant, the sounds of the highway, and the frieght trains keeping you up all night, the staff and residents are extremely rude and unwelcoming! I had a resident chase me down in my car in his golf cart cause I was going over 5 mph which my foot wasn’t even touching the gas petal… he was driving faster in his golf cart then I was in my vehicle.. he chased me down to yell at me cause yelling at me from his trailer wasn’t good enough I guess he needed to follow me and continue to harass me! None of the water activities are open due to short staffing which is understandable due to every where being short staffed.. the lifeguards do not watch at all. It’s a very unwelcoming feeling you get from the minute you pull up to the front gates. Do not waste you money!
I believe that we were the only overnight "campers" in the place. All other trailers were hard wired and plumbed in. Essentially, this is a large mobile home/permanent rv/refugee camp. Kids loaded on golf carts with loud latin music, are a prevalent part of the landscape. There was a car parked on our pad, when we arrived at our "campsite"; we had to walk back to the office and wait for someone to come and then go door to door to find the owner. Not a friendly place, but then as Americans, we did not speak the same language as the residents. We will not return, and cannot recommend....
everything people are awesome beautiful place. Sal and Jay are totally awesome
Bathroom is nasty! And the ladies that work there are racist... Cabins dirty and not cleaned cause my son found pills on the floor luckily we found them... air conditioner wasn’t working and the windows we had to put towels up cause they had missing curtains...
Love this place. Family had a great time. Definitely will be going back. Clean, friendly staff and friendly guests. So many things to do for adults and children of all ages. We love the the weekend themes as well.
We thought we were staying in an RV Resort... well out expectations were deflated our first day. This is a mobile home, permanent rv place with a few overnight rv spots sprinkled throughout. There are a steady stream of golf carts outfitted with booming stereo systems being driven by teenagers with rap/hip hop blaring... even late into the evening. The bathrooms were satisfactory although some showers only trickled water and others had insufficient hot water. The beach was so so. We ended up driving to the Dunes everyday. My daughters wanted to use the bouncy slide contraption only to find out its $5 for 45 min :( Didnt webpage a $25 resort fee to camp here... what was that for?? My wife tried to work in the main building but the wifi was intermittent. The campground is located between an interstate and rail road tracks so noise is an issue. Fortunately we were able to escape each day to the nearby Dunes beaches. Bottom line is we won't be back.

ALL AROUND TERRIBLE. We pulled in late at night after a long travel day and driving in you see municipal waste next door, old broken down trailer parks surrounding along with the highway, next to a loud train. The area in general is dilapidated and trashy. It was so upsetting. Off the bat I felt out of place & uncomfortable. There are a few streets that seem well kept and the gate staff were friendly, that’s where the positives end. It’s dated, not kept up with and trashy. 2:30AM trash Truck woke me up emptying dumpsters however the following day all 6 were overflowing so it must have been at a neighboring industry. Mud all over. Lack of road maintenance, gravel needed so badly. Seems to be no rules on how Property should be maintained. People def live here. Roads were tiny, people blasting music and being loud driving golf carts till all hours. Every time we needed to use the rest room we had to drive because they were constantly closed ( some permanently) and others for cleaning at all hours no schedule. The restrooms nearest our sight were permanently closed so it was a hike to any facility. As for how often the bathrooms were being closed for cleaning they were not nice at all. Broken screens on windows, cold was hot, hot was cold. If someone flushed or used water the shower water went Ice cold or scalding hot. Multiple times an attendant would have just left and the soap was empty. We were already totally unhappy then the 2nd evening the smell of sewage/chemicals was so strong wafting through the air for hours it was enough to make us sick. I assume it’s the municipal waste treatment plant next door. It was unreal. Like twilight zone. Maybe in 20 years this area will gentrify since the dunes are now national seashore funded by the national parks. But GO SOMEWHERE ELSE... from what I saw no where near this zip code preferable. Not a nice place. We cut our losses and left early.
great atmosphere and the guest/people were very friendly
This is actually a mobile home and full time camper place. It is not well kept or maintained. We checked in today to a swamp site with full timers and their junk everywhere. While they had other spaces, they weren’t any better. We were so uncomfortable that we forfeited our payment. The manager offered to find us a non swamp space, but never called back so we left. Apparently, it used to be Yogi Bear Park.
Make no mistake, this is a trailer park. I read the reviews online and thought people were being a tid bit dramatic. NOPE! I was 100% wrong. This begins when you pull of the main road, to rows of broken down trailers and old pre 90's unkept trailer parks. When we pulled up to the "resort" there were kids everywhere unsupervised on go carts. We pulled into the park and noticed a large number of park models that were landscaped and others that were old and unkept. I went into the office and while the staff was friendly the interior of the office reminded me of the set of every camp themed horror movie I've ever seen. Wood paneling, yellowed resin countertops and everything was sticky. The check in process was easy, but signs were up everywhere saying that there were no refunds on early check out. When we pulled into the park the spots were so close to each other we had to be careful not to hit the fences, and the TENT that was parked behind us. Once we got into our spot we didn't want to leave the travel trailer. Kids were everywhere driving around blasting music. Adults were walking around drinking. It felt very unsafe. Security was driving around beeping a horn at times, but it didn't seem to be clear why exactly. We connected power and water just fine, although the park models parked next to us had hoses running near ( but not connected) the water spicket. Ants were everywhere so we had to pop in and pop out so we didn't get bit. Behind us was a tent and as we stayed there longer it was clear the people lived there. They were nice but they kept adding things to the space as we were there. It started with two tents with a refrigerator and an a/c inside plus an outdoor stove. When we left there were 4 tents there. I've never seen so many people crammed into a pool except in a movie. The family pool is 3 pools monitored by 2 lifeguards. There were clothes, and trash all around the area and kids coming and going on golf carts non stop. The "game room" is attached to the pool house and it smells like pee, there were condoms around the outside and someone's boxers. We didn't swim there. They have an adult pool which looked nice, but we didn't get in it since we were there with our child. The only saving grace for us was the lake. It was a nice reprieve, it seemed to be managed well and we appreciated the lifeguards there. We felt it was clean and we swam in it nearly every day. I didn't use the laundry facility, showers or anything else because it was terrifying. If you are reading this and are there, go the the Route 22 laundry across the street it was really well kept and wifi worked perfectly. We stayed for the 10 days because we had commitments in the area, but we were thrilled to leave. If you are looking for an RV Resort this is not the place for you. If you are expecting to have an experience similar to a KOA stay away.
