Richard's restaurant in Portland has not been updated since the '80s! It's not the best, but it's all the town has as far as family food. It's kind of gross! You would think a Indiana restaurant could at least cook a tenderloin, but no it's hard as a rock.

Haven't been here in YEARS since moving out of state after graduating HS...I was honestly disappointed in the rating Richard's has because they definitely don't deserve the 3.9 stars they had when I checked 2 days ago...the food was SUPERB!! My kids ate ALL of their food and so did my husband and I! Absolutely amazing! Great customer service and lovely atmosphere!! Highly recommend and will be back! Thank you for an amazing time!

Had the broasted chicken, came out perfect. Also got the peach slices and coleslaw. Peaches were canned so you can't go wrong there, but asked if the slaw was home made and they said it was made there. Found out afterwards the sauce is packaged and they just cut up the slaw..not homemade! Lol

Arrived at restaurant approximately 4:00 pm, right before dinner rush. Sat in the corner booth. Customer in next booth was waiting for her dinner. When her server brought her food, the lady was stumbled over her order. It was wrong and the server disagrees. Server went over her order she wrote, and the servers writing wasn’t clear for kitchen. Server then takes this back to cook and they fussed over the order. Server comes back again with the ladies green beans, not broccoli! Server then went back to kitchen with others to carry on a conversation. Two tables over had customers and waitress asked if everything was ok. Turned and back to kitchen! Not once in that time did anyone come to my table, ask me or even give me a menu. No eye contact, no “I’ll be with you in just a min” None-thing…. Waved my hands in air, No One… But when I finally grab my purses someone out of the blues comes running with a menu????? Service is terrible not only in this restaurant but even in fast food. I would rather give my money to a Mom&Pop restaurant, so I did down the street.
Very nice home style restaurant. The chicken is amazing. Very nice wait staff. Since there aren’t many good restaurants left, expect a wait for good, wholesome food served by good people. This isn’t a chain restaurant that microwaves everything. If that’s your style then Richard’s isn’t for you.

The servers really worked hard. They had a party in the back and a full house. I felt for the server, they needed help and the staff knew it & stepped in. The food was decent, it was hectic with getting the correct orders with several people taking orders & getting silverware. They did good though and I appreciated their hard work

The food is OK, but can very sometimes. Have had cold and undercooked food before. The wait staff is hit or miss, sometimes you have a really good waitress, and other ti es you might sit 20 minutes before you have your order taken. The place is definitely dated, and so.eti es isn't very clean.
