It is Tyler ,Texas.. Best Damn Food. And The Whiners are Losers. This is Texas lived there 8 years and His Chops and Brisket and ribs are the best. get the pinto beans and potato salad. They always serve pickles and onions fresh. That is Texas!! and if you order The Chop??? get ready for a nap .It's a Monster. I have eaten there over 30 times and they are always friendly and the only problem is there are too many people in line!!

I don't like to leave bad reviews, but...here we go. I found myself in Princeton around lunch time, and was looking for a place to eat. I stumbled across this joint. I am a fan of local holes-in-the-wall, and this certainly seemed to fit that bill. A sign out front advertised that they sell Mexican vanilla. It appears to only be open on Fridays, from "11 am to sellout." This to me, seemed promising. For a restaurant to be able to succeed on limited days means they must have a good following. And, "till sellout" is usually a good sign, at least in my experience. I decided to order the Smoked Turkey plate, with Mac and Cheese and Texas Taters. I appreciated that the team member asked me if I wanted pickles and onions, as I didn't. I would have picked them off, but I am glad they asked. And...this is where my appreciation ends. I opened my to-go box (as I was pulling out, not hours later) and my first reaction was that it looked dry. Well...it didn't look dry. It WAS dry. However, the biggest sin was that this turkey was not smoked. Not even a little bit. There was not one iota of smoke flavor...in fact the only taste was that it tasted exactly like Jennie-O turkey breast. Advertising something as smoked, and then...you know, not smoking it...not great. But, I thought that perhaps the sides could redeem the meal. Nope. The Mac and Cheese tasted like frozen mac, the kind you would get in a TV dinner. The Texas Taters were actually pretty good, one bite into it. However, upon digging into it, it seemed there was bacon or ham....which I do not eat pork products, so that put an end to that side item. Now...here is the thing. If an item is ever in question, I will ask what is in the item. However, Alamo's menu specifically says on their menu board Texas Taters (fried potatoes and cheese). So I think it's a fair assumption to believe that there is no meat in the potatoes. After all, if there was, wouldn't it make sense for them to put "fried potatoes, cheese, and ham"? So again, menu was misleading, but...if you are a pork eater, I think you would enjoy the Texas Taters. I said before that the biggest sin was calling the turkey "smoked turkey." But...there may be another one, maybe a bigger one. And, that would be calling yourself a restaurant when you are serving frozen and re-heated items. I have a ton of respect for restaurant workers. And, I know that cooks typically put their heart and soul and pride into their food. So...I rarely comment on the quality of someone's food. It's their livelihood, it's their creation. So I don't say this lightly. I was not able to finish this food. It was just...not good. And, to charge $11 for a meal that (at least ) 2/3 of which was not made from scratch....it's not right. Now, I am sure this restaurant has its fans. And, I can only speak to the food that I had. Maybe their ribs and pork are fantastic. But...if you have a hankering for "smoked turkey," I would direct you away from this establishment, because you will be disappointed.

Meat was tough. Mac and cheese cold so was the mashed potatoes. Not a good experience for the amount they charged me. When I asked the staff of they could warm it up. They were real nasty about it.

Ribs are great and they really dont need sauce because the seasoning is just right. They have good potato salad and mac & cheese. BBQ sauce is more tangy than sweet and is great on the pulled pork. I usually get sweet tea but they have both Coke and Pepsi products.
