Very friendly staff and owners! Brats/sausages are the best! The baked bean soup was something we'd never heard of but was amazing! We had leftovers as German food is heavy but worth it!

Authentic fresh food!! It's so rare today and this place is legit. I had a schnitzel sandwich and a homemade cucumber soup. Both were truly delicious. The cucumber soup had a small drizzle of chili oil that added a great twist! Oh man it was good! Don't forget the pretzel with cheese.... for sure the best I've had!

I wish I had gotten our waitresses' names so I could give her the recognition she deserves. 12 of us sat down she did not miss a beat and did a great job.
The food was great, the prices were very good and we will be back.

Schwätzer’s German Restaurant in Seymour is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed. The warm, cozy atmosphere made it feel like we were dining in someone’s home rather than a restaurant—and the staff were just as inviting. Friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food, they offered fantastic suggestions that made our meal unforgettable.
We started with the brisket egg rolls, and wow—just wow. Crispy on the outside, packed with tender brisket, sauerkraut, and melted Swiss on the inside. It’s the kind of appetizer that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate how good it is.
For mains, we went with the Jägerschnitzel and the Rouladen. The Jägerschnitzel was perfectly breaded and topped with a rich mushroom gravy that was pure comfort food. The Rouladen, with its savory blend of beef, pickle, onion, carrot, and bacon, was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Both dishes were hearty, satisfying, and incredibly well-prepared.
Overall, the experience at Schwätzer’s was top-notch. Great food, an inviting atmosphere, and service that felt personal and thoughtful. If you're anywhere near Seymour, this place is a must-visit.

We had a lovely dinner here! Our server was very attentive. Food was delicious and fresh. Great German beer selection. I’ve lived in Germany for 4 years and this felt like being back there. Would absolutely go again. Prost!

Nice & warm on this cold afternoon. Friendly waiter who was informative and this was helpful as there are many hearty choices.
Italian wedding soup had hearty mealballs and you can tell the recipe is something special with chunks of carrots and spinach 🍃 and small unique bits of orzo.
Ruben with brisket was delicious

This was our 2nd visit. We were really impressed with our 1st visit, but this time- not so much. The service was EXTREMELY slow. We were finished with our appetizer before our dinner order was taken. There were only 3 of us, so party size wasn't an issue. They weren't extremely busy, but maybe they were understaffed yesterday. I enjoyed their sauerkraut during the 1st visit (& I usually dislike sauerkraut), but this visit, it was HIGHLY acidic- close to being painful. The spaetzle was bland, as well. The schnitzel was tasty and tender, though. Our grandson enjoyed the brisket. He tried the Italian Wedding Soup (it's GF) as his appetizer, and it was bland & watered down. He ate the meatballs out of it (they were good).
Dietary restrictions: Limited gluten free options: 3 or 4 entrees and 2 sides (sauerkraut & warm german potato salad). No appetizers.
Parking: Busy downtown area- you may have to walk a few blocks.
