Never thought I'd drive to Shelburn for dinner but I'm glad I did.Our local Mexican restaurants cook my food with meat when I request it not to be. Unfortunately, meat ends up in my food quite often. We usually drive to Vincennes or Sullivan as both of those restaurants give the extra effort and cook separate. We took a chance and drove over to Shelburn tonight. We've had Taco Tequila in Terre Haute a few times and they've been good about cooking separate. Our server tonight at Shelburn restaurant spoke really good English and understood my request. He also said the rice and beans are both free of animal ingredients.I ordered the mushroom fajita (without mushrooms) with no cheese or sour cream. I got a huge skillet of onions, peppers, and tomatoes. Which might not sound exciting but was exactly what I wanted. I noticed the menu didn't mention guacamole and the salad plate had none. I had to order a side of it for $4.50.Chips and salsa were excellent. The staff did great keeping up with us (I had not eaten all day). Food came out pretty quickly even with the special order. Everything looked and tasted great! It was a lot of food, like a whole lot, and I hate leftover fajitas so I ate more than I should have. So, vegans and vegetarians, you can feel good about eating here. The staff was excellent and were accommodating. Rice and beans are vegan friendly too. Thank you Taco Tequila!Absolutely loved the old train station. Super cool building and great atmosphere. Shelburn is lucky to have such a classy and clean Mexican restaurant. The local yokles drove by in their pickup and screamed at us on our way in. Also, be sure to watch your step on the way out the door. It's a doozy.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options on menu. Can customize to vegan pretty easily. Restaurant does not carry vegan versions of meat or cheese.Dietary restrictions: Knowledgeable about food ingredients for allergies or special diets.

The food here is addictive, hands down. I keep coming back often because the food hits the spot. You know the food is about to be top-notch when the fajita meat is cooked to perfection and dripping with the most delicious sauce you can think of. The shredded chicken they serve reminds me of an al pastor flavor and I wouldn't have it any other way.

We enjoyed the food but it wasn't really different from the Mexican near our home.

It's usually very good This time was not the usual. Service was bad food was even worse. That's the restaurant business. In all fairness they were extremely busy.

We have been several times and the food is always delicious. For the money, it's good portion size. Anyplace that has individual bowls for the salsa at the table has a special place in my heart. We have never been disappointed in our meal choice and will definitely be back.Kid-friendliness: They do have a kids menu with burgers and stuff like that as well as tacos.

So happy to find such a nice spot for dinner. Very delicious, the tilapia was cooked to perfection ( my mother loved it and we barely got a taste!). The shrimp was excellent, I will order it again and again. Loved the 'heat'in the sauce. My sister, though 'not hungry', consumed the entire T-Bone steak. For picky eater, that was a true compliment ! My appreciation for a great meal, loved the use of the train depot as a restaurant ( the place looks amazing) I highly recommend you try the restaurant and support this business.

Delicious meals and outstanding friendly service in one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the downtown of Shelburn, IN ( 20 miles south of Terre Haute and parallel to HWY 41 and 48 state route). ?

Had menudo on Saturday. Very good but I didn't receive the fixings ( 9nionsoregano and cilatro). Also bread was not buttered and toasted. Maybe a new cook.
