Everything is a la carte. The spaghetti with meat sauce was wonderful. Very meaty and flavorful. Bread was very fresh and served with oil, cheese, and herbs for dipping. It wasn't crowded when we were there, early on a Sunday evening. Server was very attentive.

Service was great, and it's cool that the restaurant is in an old bank. Bread & appetizer were good, but my wife was served strange-tasting chicken. We sent it back, wondering if it was spoiled - our server came back and confirmed it wasn't spoiled, but my wife clearly didn't want to eat any more of it. They didn't remove it from the bill. After leaving, we finally figured out that the taste was likely freezer burn.

What a treat. This place was referred by a work colleague. She knows all the best places in Terre Haute. She said to pick up a bucket of pasta and bread to take home so I did. This is a great suggestion from "the Georgia list". The chicken was fantastic. Everyone loved the meatballs. We will try dining in next time to try their wine selection. Parking is around back. Watch your step as you enter. The meals are enough to split with two people. I order 2 entrees and a salad for 3 people and had plenty. Ciao!

Food was below average; little taste to the marinara sauce, & while we asked for no cheese on 1 dish due to a food allergy, there was cream in the sauce on the dish which was not listed on the menu. The server asked to leave cheese off the top of the dish, never checking to be sure dairy wasnt used in the sauce. We saw other guests having bread but were not offered any ourselves. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Our server did not thank us for coming, did not offer any smile the entire time we were there. The wine tasted like the absolute cheapest wine available. Complete waste of money, will not go back.

At first glance the menu is impressive but everything was a let down from there. Service was a bit shaky. I don't think it was due to a bad server but rather it seemed that the lone waiter also had to help with cleaning and organizing the kitchen. The food was ok but not what I'd call memorable. Linguini with clams in red sauce was a little too close to Chef Boyardee for my liking. Although bread was supposed to be provided I had to ask for some after my food arrived. Really wished I hadn't requested it. A hard, dry loaf of relatively tasteless bread was brought but I couldn't eat more than a few bites. This was my first visit and I had hoped a local joint would be a nice break from all the chain restaurants on 41 but this place isn't the one. Surely will be my last visit.

Read This First! First let me say I am not in the habit of leaving bad reviews. Almost all my reviews are positive, and I always try to stay objective. Unfortunately my objectivity got left at the door from the moment I set foot in The Great Giormo Italian Cuisine. I had tried to make a reservation through Google Reservations (this option pops up if you search for this restaurant on Google) several times during the day I got a message from Google stating that they couldn't make contact with the restaurant but it kept trying. To no avail. I then called the restaurant directly to make my reservation. When we arrived, there was a bit of confusion as to who was waiting on us, but we had a waiter come to help us. This waiter seemed very unprepared. He did not know the menu very well [(the menus were extremely worn, dirty and sticky) my first clue that this was going to be a bad experience], could not remember the beer choices, and didn't know what a vinaigrette dressing was. We were served bread, no butter or dipping sauces, but were given some dry spices and parmesan cheese that got ladled onto one of our plates. The start to our meal was very awkward and confusing and it was evident that this waiter was clearly out of his element. We ordered the zucchini fritti which had a very nice batter but desperately needed salt. It came with a marinara sauce that was tasty. The side salads were fresh when brought to us and the waiter managed to get my wife a big bottle of balsamic vinegar to go with the olive oil on the table (but once again awkward) for her salad. My wife ordered the crab stuffed Mahi Mahi and I ordered the New York strip with shrimp scampi. They arrived quickly. My steak was overcooked (I ordered medium rare) . It was tender but tasteless. The shrimp was ok but the scampi noodles had a fishy taste and were bland, missing that nice garlic flavor you would expect. What was worse was my wife's Mahi Mahi. The crab stuffing was overly salty and the fish was undercooked. Yuck! It's been a long time since we left 75 dollars of food at the table, but we did today. After 3 or 4 bites each, we paid our bill and left vowing never to return. One other note. One of the other reviews recommended bringing a fly swatter. Yes, flies and gnats were a problem. Not to mention we sat next to a window where the sill was covered with a layer of dust, cobwebs, and dead flies. Double Yuck. In the end I should have asked for my money back. Save YOUR money and try someplace else. There are several other excellent Italian choices in Terre Haute.

Service was real slow despite an empty restaurant, I received the wrong salad with stale croutons and the lettuce tasted like it hadn’t been washed. Food was low quality for price. There was a bug in my partners drink and to make up for it they gave us dessert that was so dry you couldn’t eat it. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, flies and waste everywhere. No changing table to change my daughter. Out of papertowels as well. 2 out of the 3 stalls were not working. Sink water also didn’t get warm either. I hate to leave a bad review but honestly I was so disappointed and disgusted. The google reviews had me expecting better. Definitely picked the wrong place to eat at tonight!

We were here for twenty minutes waiting for water. Waited another 20 minutes for appetizers and we were told that our order had not even been put in yet. Our waiter only had 4 tables. There were 2 families and 2 couples who came in after us who got drinks and appetizers while we were waiting for our drinks. Our server was obviously new but his co-worker didn't seem to care or want to help. This was our first time here. Food on the other tables looked good. I don't know for sure because we finally left and went to Applebee's where I got soup before I could even finish this review.

We ate there at lunch with 12 people, yesterday, on Thursday 28 July 2022. The bread they serve as an appetizer taste like soda bread [ I have eaten in Italy and have never seen or tasted whatever the bread is?]. They served parmigiana cheese and oregano on the side to dip the bread in but since the olive oil is plain and not infused it makes a mess and was tasteless. The wait staff was disorganized and could not figure out who got which meal. When it was time to pay, they took one person at a time - went to the register and then returned for another....I just piled up the receipts and payments in a pile and gave it to them. FYI the backstory is that I worked in restaurants as a bus boy, waiter, bartender, and manager, in my early career, This place is suffers from poorly trained and managed wait staff. There was only one table of 8 people there who had already been served before we ordered and it took over an hour to get our food! The one hour wait for food was too long because we only ordered pizzas, pasta, and sandwiches. I know it wasn't "fast food", but it wasn't "Great" either.

We made a reservation and our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. We had wonderful and friendly service and the food was delicious! It was a very nice anniversary dinner!

My little girl and myself. I had the eggplant parm, she had the kids spaghetti. Our plates were heaping, we had to take some home but it was great the nest day as well. It's close to home so we make make this a regular spot. The service was excellent. We were well taken care of but not to the point of being interrupted while we dined. I wish I'd gotten the servers name so I could give her a personal shout out..thanks!

This was hands down the worst dining experience my husband and I have ever had. Our salads came out frozen so we sent them back. The food was ok and the bread was alright. When we got the bill the salads were still on there even though we never had them. We asked for them to be taken off and the waitress said the manager couldn’t and he was too busy to come out. We demanded to speak to him and when he came out he started yelling at us to never come back and proceeded to throw money at us. The employees have no support and are treated with absolute disrespect. I will not support this restaurant or the way this manager treats workers and customers.

Great Giorno is a local Italian restaurant in Terre Haute. The restaurant is in an old bank. The original vault and the teller windows are still in the building. You can reserve the bank vault for a more private dining experience. The owner was in the building and greeted us personally when we entered. He was interested in speaking with us and spoke with us about how he got into the culinary arts and ended up in Terre Haute. He told us all of his chefs are actually trained chefs and not just someone off the street. Owner, Chef Jimmy, assured us that his intent is to take care of his customers. The food was very good. There were only two rolls brought out to the table. Initially I thought this was odd, but after realizing these aren't your typical yeast rolls you get at a chain restaurant, I understood. These rolls are dense and heavy. They were a welcomed change to normal dinner rolls.Chef Jimmy had mentioned that the restaurant goes through approximately 600 lbs of chicken a week. I thought that was a very large amount. However when I saw what my buddy got as a serving for his chicken Parm, I could totally see why. The serving was massive. Definitely enough to share. The chicken was cooked well and had great flavor.I ordered the seasonal dish, shrimp and scallop linguini. It came in a marsala sauce and had a very slight kick of heat to it. The sweetness of the marsala sauce paired nicely with the spice. The shrimp were slightly overdone and a little on the chewy side, but the flavor was excellent.Chef Jimmy let me know his wife bakes the baklava herself, so naturally I had to try some. It was very good. The outside wasn't as flaky as some I've tried, but all in all, a good baklava. We didn't notice any sort of sewer smell while there. It's also difficult to get good help and I'm sure there is quite a bit of turnover waiting tables regardless of the restaurant, so knowledge of the menu may be a tough subject to grade the staff on. I can tell you Chef Jimmy knows his menu as he and I talked about what to order at length. In the end, Great Giorno Italian Cuisine was a refreshing and tasty experience. I would definitely return again. Thanks, Jimmy!

In its previous life the building was a bank. It retains some of the unique bank features like the vault. You can have a private table if you reserve it. Dining room has very high ceilings and lots of open space. We started with bread and herbs with oil and parmesan. I wasn't a fan of the bread. I thought it was heavy and lacked flavor and salt. We had a table of 5. We got Spinach Ravioli, two Chicken Parmesans, Chicken Carbonara, and Talapia. Spinach Ravioli was delicious. I loved the sauce. Chicken on the chicken parm was nice and crispy. I thought the spagetti lacked sauce. Talapa had a nice lemon sauce, I was not a fan of the Chicken Carbonara but I don't like capers and it had a lot of them. Everyone enjoyed there respective meals. Out server was friendly and kept things flowing. When seeing our Godson at Rose we'd eat hear again.
