Atmosphere and service from Joel was exceptional and made the entire evening. French Onion soup, which included several varieties of onions, was top notch. Drinks were good, but standard. Spinach Artichoke dip was satisfying with large bites of artichokes. It actually had some heft to the dish as compared to most Spinach Artichoke dips. Happy Hour was worth while with good selection and above standard fair. My only issue was the tuna salad plate. While the zucchini bread was quite moist and tasty, the rest was barely standard. The presentation reminded me of a quick grab and go platter. And for the price of $24 I would have expected a little more effort. 4 blueberries, 1 blackberry, and a strawberry does not meet the standards of this place. I highly recommend a visit with a slow dinner to enjoy the service and ambience (just forgo the tuna salad plate)

I had the lemon chicken soup and a chicken salad sandwich. Both were very good.

The atmosphere is what is great about this place! Do not recommend the Lobster Roll. Not worth the money and not much taste. Happened to get a whole glass of water spilled in my lap by waitress (complete accident), but Ballard's didn't comp anything off my meal - complete disappointment! Enjoyed the atmosphere, but will not be back.

We ate there late morning and there weren’t many people there… We waited for a long time after we were served our drinks. Finally the waiter comes over and says I’m sorry I forgot to place your order, what was it that you ordered? We only had one full day to spend Here at West Baden Hotel and they took up a lot of our time‼️ We also just wanted a quick bite to eat because we were having a nice dinner later that day. We only got comped 50% off our meal and we had to wait a long time for that bill!
Disappointed in service/management but food WAS good!
The sheer opulence and magnificence of the atrium add to the experience. Food presentation was acceptable. Service was good. I had a wagu burger and fries. Wagu in and of itself is spectacular this was that. Nothing super special about the meal tho. My pineapple whip mimosa was ok and MUCH too small for $10. The hotel itself is worth the visit! Go. Enjoy the rich history and the majesty. (I made a brunch reservation… it’s not necessary.)

Another great lunch at Ballards, good service, great food, beautiful atmosphere. Pizza, burgers, steak salad, and the loaded fries may be the best I have eaten.

The service is not the best, but, we love to eat here. The food is always very tasty and fresh. We did have a better server this time but, I still had to give it a 3 star rating. My burger was cold by the time I got my Mayo & Mustard.

The atmosphere is worth coming for. A couple things on the menu were outstanding like the spinach artichoke dip, but the steak and burgers fell a little flat. Great service and enjoyed the experience!

Had a Christmas Eve meal at this restaurant in the atrium of the West Baden Hotel. Terrific waitress and service, and a fantastic view of the dome with the large Christmas tree serving as a focal point for people milling about. The food was good, not great. I had been anticipating the French Onion soup and it didn't quite meet my expectation. The penne dish was rich and required a bite or two of the peppermint creme brulee as a refresher. The live piano Christmas tunes really helped to set a peaceful vibe. Eat here for the view and Sinclair's for the food.

Let me begin by saying that I have traveled most of Europe while living in Germany for 20 years
I drove truck hauling heavy equipment in the lower 48 states and Canada.
The reason I'm explaining my travels is to give no doubt I have visited almost every type of restaurant and eaten all types of food
My wife and I chose to eat at the Dome in French Lick on New Years day for a special treat to her.
We chose the Atrium and Ballard's to view the Dome.
Drink order went well with our waiter (no miller lite) and once the drinks arrived, we ordered.
Appetizers were Artichoke Spinach dip and Tomota bisque with real cream.
She ordered Steak Frites med well done.
I chose Blackened salmon with rice, paplando pepper, and corn.
Artichoke dip was fresh baked ( ? ) but looked very dark on crusty top.
After showing her disgust at first bite , I chose to take a spoon full too. It honestly tasted old , had absolutely no taste whatsoever. Even I make one better!! Tried to salt it . Nope ! 2/3 went back uneaten.
Tomato Basil was col at top and Luke warm downwards. Also after 4-5 spoonfuls I started to feel bloated and tasting a sourness. Done with that !
Main course came out and we were both skeptical of it being a flop or not.
Steak was tender and tasteful according to Mrs. But potatoes were not fries but long cut boiled 😐
Blacked salmon 😋 was rice parlando pepper and corn in a cream like sauce filling the plate nicely displayed with salmon in center. However !! Who in their right ..... minds puts a gob of some kind of red sauce (bbq, pasta) on top of salmon.
Rice was somewhat tasty but not my cup if tea.
Red sauce definitely led me to be a strict believer in plain salmon with lemon.
So my conclusion to this restaurant visit is that when you drop a 150 $ on a treat to yourselves then I should be giving 5 stars not 1 and 2. Actually food only got 1 star because the Mrs liked her Steak.
Service was polite but requires help of an extra waitress to order a 2nd drink.
We definitely won't be back as the Dining in the Dome was a bigger flop years ago.

The Signature Ballard's Burger is really good! The location is excellent! Reservations are required.
Service could use some coaching. We were not brought silverware, napkins, plates or ask what we wanted to drink.

Nice place to eat in West Baden. A lovely view of the inside of the dome allows for a fun culinary environment. During the holidays, it is wonderful to have the Christmas tree as a backdrop.
