Excellent food and Service!
Looking for a great Mexican meal in Terre Haute, Indiana? Check out Taco Tequila’s located near Indiana State University! I ordered the Fajita Tequilas with steak, chicken, and shrimp served with rice & beans. The meat was seasoned to perfection and the vegetables were noticeably fresh. The chips are light and the salsa is mild and smooth. The prices are affordable. Staff was friendly and quick. Highly recommend this Mexican restaurant in Terre Haute!
We have never had a bad experience here! Our wait staff have always been very attentive and left us asking for nothing. Our glasses were topped off regularly! I highly recommend this place for a casual dining experience... or a quick and very affordable lunch!!!
We stopped in here on our way home from Missouri. Food was great. Prices were very reasonable. Staff was very nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
The servers and host were very friendly. The atmosphere is good. Small restaurant inside and a few tables outside. The food was just OK. The salsa was bland, but I did think it was nice they brought a small bowl for each person at the table to use for their own salsa. We had tacos and they were a little bland as well.
So glad we found this place. Both food and service were excellent. Nice atmosphere. Not a chain restaurant. Will definitely go back.
Full of college kids when we were here 8PM. We liked the food very much and margaritas were reasonably priced. Was recommended by our Hotel 3 blocks away. Chips and salsa was very good.
My friend and I were in Terre Haute for a girls weekend and we stumbled upon Taco Tequila's almost by accident. The cantina is in an older building, very cool high high ceiling, and exposed brick wall that customers are allowed to sign. The food was delicious and there was quite a lot on the menu to choose from. Our server was sweet and very good, all servers seemed very attentive. Huge range in demographics in the restaurant, but nobody appeared to be having a bad time. I would definitely go back there if I'm ever in Terre Haute again.
food: 4/5 The salsa was quite yummy, and the chips were generic but not bad. I requested horchata, and was told they don't have it. (Instantly unveiled to me that this place was only reviewed as "authentic Mexican" by some, on here, because this city is super predominantly white. Anybody who's been to an actual authentic Mexican restaurant knows they'll not only have, but pride themselves on their horchata.) I said, "Okay, I'll take a Sprite." And they didn't have that, either. I had the carnitas tacos and asked for "their spiciest sauce" to come on the side to try on the tacos. The waiter brought me their "diablo sauce", which had some kick to it but was otherwise very bland. The tacos, themselves, were solid. (Nothing impressive about them, but they were not disappointing, either.) service: 2.5/5 It took just under 10 minutes for me to be seated, in spite of the restaurant being almost empty and several staff members looked at me and chose to ignore me. My waiter was not rude, but a far cry from the attitude you'd expect from a food service worker dependent upon tips. For example, after I ordered, he just silently and expectantly stared at my menu rather than saying anything along the lines of "I'll take that up, for you." Additionally, I saw my waiter twice my entire visit. Once to take my order, and once to bring by my tip. asides: - ambience: Some neat Day of the Dead [holiday] murals on the walls. Kinda ugly interior besides that. - revisit: Maybe. Gonna check out some other Mexican restaurants in the area. Hopefully somewhere can match the pretty good food with miles better service.
