My wife and I went to Roots Eatery and Pub in Wolcott for the first time, and we were really impressed. The atmosphere was very nice, the restaurant was clean, and the service was great.

We ordered the chicken schnitzel with tortilla (shredded chicken) soup and the chicken Alfredo, which came with garlic bread. We split both meals so we could try a bit of everything, and it was perfect. The chicken schnitzel was tender, perfectly breaded, and honestly reminded me of my mom’s cooking. The chicken Alfredo had a flavorful sauce and nicely cooked chicken, and the garlic bread was fantastic.

If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend giving Roots Eatery and Pub a try — you won’t be disappointed!

While searching for a farm-to-table restaurant in Indiana that served homemade, fresh, high-quality food, I came across Roots Eatery & Pub. The spot is a little unassuming—tucked on a corner, it might not catch your eye at first, and when we arrived for lunch, there was only one other group in the restaurant. Despite that, I have to say the food completely exceeded my expectations.

I wanted to try a local specialty, and it seemed like pork tenderloin sandwiches are a thing around here, so I went ahead and ordered one. The sandwich was delicious, fresh, and generously portioned—so much so that I couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Alongside the sandwich, I also tried a bowl of their mushroom soup, and I have to say, this was the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had. I’m not someone who eats just any mushroom soup—I’m very picky and always look for scratch-made, from-scratch soups, and this one blew me away. The ingredients were fresh, earthy, and perfectly balanced, with a richness and depth that comes from truly high-quality mushrooms and fresh cream, not canned shortcuts. Each spoonful was hearty, flavorful, and satisfying in a way that’s rare to find in a casual restaurant.

The atmosphere at Roots Eatery & Pub was also a highlight. As you walk in, you’re greeted by a front area filled with greenery and plants, which gives the place a welcoming, fresh feel. Someone quickly came to seat us, and we chose a booth, although there’s also a bar area behind the booths for those enjoying drinks. The restaurant has a dimly lit, cozy vibe, reminiscent of a traditional Irish tavern. It felt intimate, clean, and comfortable, perfect for enjoying a relaxed lunch or dinner.

Our server was attentive and quick—our water arrived almost immediately, and our food orders followed shortly after. The soup came out quickly and was piping hot, and the pork tenderloin sandwich followed not long after. Service was smooth, friendly, and professional, making the meal even more enjoyable.

The only downside I experienced was with the to-go boxes. We still had about half a plate of French fries left, and when we asked for boxes, the server took the plate before we could save it, as our mouths were full. It was a minor frustration, and we didn’t make a fuss, but it would have been nice to take home food that we had paid for. Aside from that small hiccup, everything else was excellent.

Parking is somewhat limited on the side of the building, but there’s additional parking further down the street, so it’s manageable. The restaurant itself is clean, well-kept, and thoughtfully designed, with attention to detail in the seating and decor. The combination of farm-to-table freshness, high-quality ingredients, and cozy Irish pub vibes makes this a standout in the area.

Overall, if you’re looking for a homemade, farm-to-table lunch or dinner in Indiana, I highly recommend Roots Eatery & Pub. From their scratch-made mushroom soup to their generous, flavorful pork tenderloin sandwiches, this is a spot that delivers fresh, quality food in a warm, inviting environment. The service is attentive, the atmosphere is charming, and even though it’s a bit off the beaten path, it’s absolutely worth a visit. Whether you’re a local or passing through, this restaurant is a hidden gem for anyone who loves homemade comfort food, farm-fresh ingredients, and cozy Irish pub vibes.

Dinner here was very good. I had fried pickles, and the pepperjack ranch chicken sandwich with garlic parm wedges. The chicken was succulent. If my whole meal was based on that alone, dinner was a 10. I enjoyed the chili and ranch dips for the pickles too. The pickles were crispy too!

Just visited this place. We haven't been here in a couple of years. I wasn't happy to with the quality of the food when they first opened. I have seen many good reviews so we decided to try it again. The atmosphere due to the architecture is loud and booming. We could not even hear each other talking across the table . The restaurant used to have the most outstanding blue cheese dressing. I actually bought a gallon from them, it was so good. Not anymore. I ordered the pork medallions. The menu stated it was pork tenderloin. It was not. They were gristly, like pork chops and were way overcooked, dry and about two inches in diameter. Three only, so small and dry they were a joke. The lemon pepper rice had no lemon and no pepper and were presented cold. They did bring me a steaming bowl to replace them but they still lacked the lemon and the pepper. The steamed broccoli was room temperature. I ordered grilled onions and mushrooms to go on top of them and did not receive them . However, my husband ordered the 12 oz ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. This was the only redeeming factor. I do not believe we will be back. Oh, we just left and the Right side of the double doors was locked. Only the left one opened. I believe that is an Indiana code fire law violation. If it's not it certainly should be.

The food here is delicious. The service was excellent considering there was 13 of us. My friend spilled red wine on my white pants. The bartender was very helpful to give me a cloth and soda water to try to get the wine out before it stained. We will definitely go again when we are in this area.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming but the service was subpar. She interrupted us talking to go to her other table to give them their check (and talked to them for a few moments?), didn’t stay up on our drinks, and made multiple mistakes with our drink and food order.
