We were hoping to find a good New England sandwich. We had high hopes that Poplar, originating in New York would know how to make a grinder. Not a sub, or hogie, a genuine grinder. What Italian restaurant doesnt even have Provalone cheese as an option for a sandwich? Our wait staff was more than helpful. I asked for the Italian dressing on the side, knowing I would be taking most of it home. The chef (cook?) put the dressing on the side in a to-go container. I appreciated that....

This was our third trip here and I feel bad I haven't done a review yet. The food is incredible. So here goes. It's like going back in time to the 70s/80s
The haddock dinner is amazing, the batter and the fish is top quality. The pizza is really good. Don't sleep on the pizza pockets, basically they are Italian egg rolls. For me; Italian food starts with a really good sauce, and Poplar red sauce is amazing. It's perfect really.

Ok going to be blunt. The food and service was really good. What we as a family did not like was the waiting customers standing next to our table in order to be seated. Nobody wants a strangers tailend to be less than a foot away while we eat. Please see if there is a way to give seated customers near the entrance some room. Again food was fantastic and staff did a great job meeting our needs.
