Dinner had 8 people ahead of me. Was told she was only one working and it might be awhile. I said ok. She took my order and it took about 40 minutes. She was waitress, cook,answering the phone taking orders. I didn't think that was bad for a one woman show. Food was decent.

It is Wednesday September 25th 2024 I went into Penny Diner in Coffeyville Kansas at around 10:00 p.m. but when I went to order I had a cup of ice water and it had no ice in it so I asked the the guy that was waiting on me why there was no ice in the water and he told me that there was no ice but he could not leave the restaurant to go next door and get any ice, so I asked him again couldn't you have called someone at the Travelodge motel next door to see if they could bring some ice over he said no so therefore I didn't say anymore about the ice because I already knew he was not going to do anything based on his attitude period Then after a few minutes he comes out and asked what I wanted to order I told him the chopped beef steak with mashed potatoes and gravy a side salad with blue cheese dressing and he said okay then went back and prepared it but it took him almost 20 minutes to bring the salad with two very small amounts of blue cheese dressing in tiny cups that were not even more than halfway full and not enough to go on the whole salad just barely covering half the salad. Then he brought out the beefsteak and it was like the size of the palm of your hand with chopped up peppers and onion and gravy on it the meat was cold it also comes with the mashed potatoes and gravy which the mashed potatoes were also cold and he did not bring out the two slices of toast that were to come with the meal so I asked him why there was no toast and why there was so little of dressing in each small container that the dressing was in and I also asked why the potatoes were cold and the meat he responded in a very hateful way telling me if you don't like it you can go and you don't have to eat it so then I left the food and walked out. Well this person that waited on me had done the same thing before when I had come in to the diner and ordered my meals and of course I was not happy about the way the food was prepared being cold like this time so I reported it to the manager Leon and told him about the two incidents with the same person before and apparently he did not listen and do anything about disciplining the employee for his actions which looks like the manager is not doing his job as well or this mistake would have been corrected and would not have happened a third time, I believe that someone needs to take disciplinary action and relieve the employees that are not doing their job because with it continuing the way it is that's not helping the business and it's not fair to the customers. Also I did leave my statement with the Travelodge motel next door with the front desk front desk attendant and she wrote down the bad experience that I had at the restaurant with the employee there which for me was very upsetting...

Old school type diner. Good food, decor is old school 50's , including pictures, tables and booths. Thankfully it's open 24 hours as we rolled into town late. Glad we stopped.

Do not waste your time with this place. They're out of half of the items on the menu. The cook will not adjust burgers as far as medium, medium well, etc. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, then had to ask for it because it was just sitting in the window. The bathroom is disgustingly filthy. They aren't busy enough to justify being so slow or so dirty

The server was slow, but there was one person doing both cooking and waiting customers. They were out of hamburger, tater tots, and fries. The last time I was there, they had a physical menu. Not this time. This time, you have to scan a QR code to order your food! The decor reminds you of the 60s with Elvis and Marilyn Monroe on the wall, but the menu system sucks. The server was trying desperately to get ahold of management, but they were cussing him out for not being able to serve items that were out of stock. He said they had gotten truck on Thursday, but the manager didn't order anything they needed. I went on a Saturday night about 2am (since they were the only place open) after a tournament, but I wish I wouldn't have. The place is so mismanaged and poorly ran I feel bad for the staff. The food was awesome, but the mood was uncomfortable even as a guy.

I would not recommend eating here until the management issues are resolved

If I could give zero stars, I would. We stopped here on Labor Day weekend around 12:30. There were a few tables, but it didn’t appear overly busy. We tried to order online, through the QR code at the table, but the notes section didn’t provide enough room. The server was able to take our order about 10-15 minutes after we arrived. We were told that they were out of fries and tots due to a rush, but that he would give us onion rings at no charge. We were happy. We ordered a triple stack club. - No Mayo or tomato, sub cheddar and honey mustard, a western burger with cheddar, and an order of mozzarella sticks. Nearly 45 minutes later, we got our cheese sticks (a double order at no extra charge). They were good. During this time another family of 3 walked in. They were told that the ice machine was broken and the server would be walking down the road to buy ice. We told them that we had waited a while, so they left. At this point, there was one other couple in the diner. I asked one of the servers if she could check on our food and was told there was one cook and they had just had a rush (at this point the rush would’ve been almost an hour ago). 7 tables needed to be cleaned and it appeared there were only 2 employees in the building. Just as we were about to call it quits, she brings out food. It was 2 triple stack club sandwiches. Both had tomato. She also mentioned that they were out of fries. I told her that the other server said we could have onion rings at no charge. One of the sandwiches belonged to the other couple, but no western burger in sight. At this point, we were done as it had been an hour without getting our meal and I didn’t trust that the club didn’t have mayo. We left money for the mozzarella sticks and left. On our way out, we saw the third employee returning with a bag of ice over his shoulder. Sorry! We will not be back.

Food was pretty damn good!! Poor James was running the WHOLE restaurant by himself!! But doing a great job at it ? owner needs to get him some help in there will be back again!

Stopped in to grab a bite coming through town. Place was not busy at all but very clean and the food was good. Nothing to brag about but definitely hit the spot which was perfectly acceptable.

Can't tell you about the food, service, or experience because they don't have a menu. The second I walked in, they said we must order through an app. I do not want to use a mobile app to order food from a sit down restaurant. The world is a changing, but I opted to skip bc of this issue.

We have tried eating there three times. The food was OK, but it took forever to get your order taken and then it took even longer to get your food !! waitress wasn’t friendly. Kept going outside. Cute restaurant. Not real clean Why don’t they step it up? You would think they would get the hint of nobody coming To eat anymore

An excellent chicken sandwich with fries and a Pepsi $14.
