What a phenomenal find! We were traveling through this part of Kansas for a family vacation and happened upon this absolute gem. The food was really incredible and staff couldn’t have been more down to Earth and friendly. It honestly gave off the vibe of eating with family. If or when we come back this we will gladly travel the Back Roads again!

Was heading home (Seneca ) from Atchison and was looking for a quick place to stop and have a snack. Found the Back Roads Restaurant. Was surprised it was very clean and loved the atmosphere. Wife and I shared a smashburger which was excellent. Very prompt and courteous service. WIll stop again!!

Tried for the first time and we will be returning. The food was amazing and waitresses really took care of us. For being in a small town it was busy so I am not the only one that thinks this is a great place to eat. Not only was the food amazing the dessert was spot on.

Took a little road trip with Hubby and stumbled upon this place, and so glad we did! I am Carnivore and only eat meat & Cheese. So happy to find they have Smash Burgers! They were so yummy! And Hubby's tenderloin was HUGE! 5 stars!!
The food was excellent! The spicy aioli on the Dirty Burger was delicious. Beef patties were juicy and quite flavorful. French fries were crisp and tasty. The server was kind and friendly, but the service was slow. There weren't many customers, so the slowness was unreasonable. The server failed to check on us to see if we needed refills. The kitchen was slow as well. The restaurant was clean and comfortable with the electric fireplace burning. Personally, I could do without the dead carcasses hanging on the walls, but I realize this is rural Kansas. I highly recommend the food. However, I will probably be ordering take-out next visit.
