We had such great service today at Daphne Mae Cafe! The restoration of this old hardware store is top-notch and beautifully done. 10/10 recommend a stop for cafe or a bite to eat.
I like to go to different little cafes and coffee shops. The coffee here is good, the atmosphere is great. As someone who enjoys ordering avocado toast at different places, this one has the best avocado toast every time with the garlic and tomatoes and country style bread.
Not from the area and decided to explore local restaurants before the festival. The place had a steady flow of customers, but unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. We weren’t greeted upon arrival in the line and waited over 30 minutes after placing the order, for a small $9.00 sandwich and a third of a pickle spear. The bun was soggy on the plain side not the tomato / lettuce / mayo side..
To make matters worse, our order wasn’t labeled with a table number, so the server took it around to every table, asking if anyone had ordered these two sandwiches. It was awkward watching everyone peer over our food plates as we tried to get the server’s attention. After everyone else declined the plates, the server needed to verify at the counter that they were indeed ours. By then, we were the only customers left who hadn't been asked.
Without saying a word, the server finally placed the plates down and walked away. We had to figure out on our own that napkins, silverware, and straws were self-serve at the end of the bar. This was, by far, a very unusual and disappointing experience. It wasn’t welcoming at all, though perhaps we just caught them on an off day. Up close picture of grilled chicken sandwich and pickle spear, approximately the size of a McChicken sandwich on luncheon size plates.

Unless you're wanting to wait half hour for a sandwich, I would not recommend it.

This cute cafe is tucked away inside the little town of Halstead, Kansas.
The ambiance was so relaxing with the armoas of sweet treats and coffee in the air.
The service was great, very welcoming and helpful with recommendations.
The food was excellent! I ordered the sausage, cheese and egg casserole with a Carmel macchiato (iced). Simply delicious they both were!
They had everything from breakfast items, sweet treats, coffees and lattes to sandwiches and summer time drinks.
Definitely a must if you happen to follow the brick road to this quaint town!

Love the way they kept the feel of the history of this building. It was "The Old Hardware Store." What a wonderful place. Stop by for a treat!

Will definitely be back. Food and service are great.
I brought several of my friends for their first time & they all loved it! One called it a "gem". They will be back I'm sure. The sandwiches are all great & you can't ask for a more relaxing atmosphere.
