Hadn't been to Houlihan's in a while, since I no longer work in the Overland Park area, so when given the opportunity to be back in the area, a friend of mine had dinner there before attending a concert. It was just as I remember...Top Notch Service, Tasty Food, Reasonably priced and overall pleasant experience.
We waited 20 minutes before a server came. Once the server came, he did an awesome job. But the host dropped the ball.
A family get together, we were seated promptly and the service was excellent-very attentive. All of the food was cooked to order and delicious. Wonderful experience.
Everything we ordered was very good...mushroom appetizer, bowl of potato soup and chicken lettuce wraps, Lots of food and good service...only complaint was we had barely gotten to enjoy the mushrooms when the rest of our food came out.
We waited at our table for a bit before our waitress came. After she arrived, she was friendly, and attentive. Her check ins, were just right. Everyone enjoyed their food.
Absolutely fantastic service! We return here because the staff is top notch and we always are treated like family. Everything comes out perfect or it is corrected with a smile. This is one of our favorite KC restaurants. They had a lovely Easter menu. We were there on Easter Saturday and it was delicious.
We'd requested table 48 on Open Table, but it was occupied when we arrived. We were seated at another table nearer the noise of the kitchen & restroom traffic. Disappointing. Michael, our server, was great! He never rushed us, brought all plates together and didn't hover. We've had Michael before, he knows what he's doing! Finding the balance between service and being a nuisance. 👍🏻
This would have been barely one star if the manager hadn't PAID for our meal. After ordering, we waited nearly a FULL HOUR for our food. At one point, I finally asked to speak to a manager, and she made some excuse about the kitchen being backed up, but I watched the people in the next booth be seated, order, get their food and finish eating while we were still waiting! The server and I both speculated that the kitchen had LOST our order! The server was personable, but, adding insult to injury, I had to ask him three times for lemon for our iced tea, and flagging him down was difficult, even when he was at the next booth. As I told the manager, we've been going to that Houlihan's since it first opened, and we went this time because we received an email with a "$10 off" coupon. She covered our meal plus a dessert, and said we could save the coupon "for next time". We won't be using it, because it expires May 1, and we certainly won't be returning by then, if ever. As I had told her, Houlihan's service has really gone downhill in recent years.
We absolutely love Houlihan's it's our go to restaurant. Tonight was exceptionally disappointing from our waitress to our entrees. We are not usually complainers but the meatloaf was not edible. It was dense with dull flavors. Our waitress was lacking with timing and concern of our disappointment. Totally fail!
Waitress never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. Also took a long time for her to take our order.

Fries were cold, it was almost like they had taken a plate of leftover fries from a table and placed my sandwich on it. They brought out 'hot' (not so hot) fries as a replacement but still.... Chicken sandwich has gone downhill from the exquisite sandwich of the past. You would think they would know how to make one of the 5 signature menu items. It was bland and slighty overcooked on temp, so not very juicy. Overall, not a good experience, will not try this location again.
I don't know restaurants, but I want to increase my score on Google

Not sure what has happened but was very disappointed in my last two visits here. I met some friends for lunch, service was great but the food has gone downhill. I had the prime rib sandwich with tomato bisque soup and spinach dip appetizer. My prime rib tasted like they had pre-cut it then reheated it horrible. Spinach dip was very bland. Very disappointing as both of these were my go to previously. Only things worth eating were the soup and french fries.

I had heard good things about this location but after a bad experience I had posted an earlier review since my wife didn't want to go back to this one ever again. Our bad experience wasn't in the restaurant itself but because they couldn't seat us for happy hour (even after offering to take us to our table and then saying that it was already taken).
However, I wanted to post an updated review because soon after I posted about our bad experience, I got an email from the manager who was very apologetic and asked us to give them another try. I liked the fact that even though I was willing to let it go and said that perhaps the receptionist at the desk was having a bad day, the manager insisted that this should never happen no matter what.
Long story short, I convinced my wife to go back again and this time they were able to seat us at the outside patio during happy hour. We tried many of the happy hour food specials as well as draft beer. Now that we have had a chance to actually enjoy their happy hour, I must say that it is indeed one of the best in the area. The famous Houlihan's Shrooms, spicy chicken and avocado eggrolls, crunchy spicy cauliflower, and the char crusted ahi tuna were all wonderful and delicious. My wife had a mojito while I had one of their $4 craft beers on tap. All in all, we had a wonderful time.
The outdoor patio is great and we would highly recommend anyone to visit this location for happy hour. Note that the happy hour specials are only available for patio seating. But with nice fall weather coming up, who wants to sit inside anyway. Also, their happy hour extends until 7 pm, which is an added bonus for us since most of the other locations in the area only have happy hour until 6 pm. We are so glad we went back and our sincere thanks to the manager who contacted us. These guys know customer service really well.
