I don't know it just seems to me that El Sol used to be a whole lot better than they are now they're deep fried tacos for kind of greasy can they charge me $3 for sour cream that I didn't ask for and the strawberry margarita was not really strawberry I'm not sure what it was but it was kind of pink

Ordered online and we were extremely disappointed. First, we ordered a liter bottle of coke that we didn’t receive. Second the food looked good but was so bland we had to get out our own sauce just to taste something. The veggie quesadilla was just bad. Who puts cauliflower on a quesadilla? It seemed like a frozen bag of veggies was an afterthought to the half of an onion that was on it. If I could leave zero stars I would. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

We were there at 5:00 on a Wednesday evening. No wait to be seated. For the very first time in my life, I was served an entree that was inedible. I ordered tamales from the specialty section of El Sol's menu. The first bite was horrible. No flavor, dry in texture, miniscule amount of meat. Just a dry bite of unflavored corn flour paste. I did not take a second bite. I ate the beans and rice, but left the tamales untouched. After I finished the rice and beans, the waitress returned to ask how things were, I was very polite when explaining what I have written above. She took my plate and left. After about ten minutes, she returned with a bit of attitude and asked if I wanted the tamales replaced, or wanted another entree. My friend was finished eating by then, her carnitas were fine, but no thank you, to more horrible tamales, and I did not wish to eat alone. No one apologized for the bad food. $17 for beans rice and a soda. I did tip the waitress, did not act badly, but I won't eat at El Sol again. There are three other very good Mexican restaurants in downtown Ottawa. I recommend them highly. See my other reviews. So disappointed in El Sol.

I took my daughters here last week, and we had an amazing time. The food was delicious, and even after visiting Kansas City, Lawrence, and other places, this was our favorite place to eat. The food, the atmosphere, the personable staff…it was a genuinely great time. They also served the best horchata I’ve ever had,too.
