Jim’s is our go-to place to eat whenever we’re in Pittsburg, KS. The chicken fried steak is the best. Service is friendly and quick. The salad dressings are house made and delicious. We are never disappointed when we eat here.
Party of six on a Friday evening at 5:30. Service in the bar was very good. Food ok. ( onion rings very good). Someone in mgmt had lost attention to detail as they were out of Cab and only had Merlot. Busy weekend, with a Liquor Store within 100 yards. WTH
I know it is not the same as the original that I had eaten at since I can remember, 1960 to be sure. Tonight I stop by, knowing they were busy, being a single person I had first asked the bar tender whom at one time was a nice guy, tonight he said I guess you could eat at the bar, but it will not make it any quicker. I wasn't really looking for quicker. So I stepped back to the hostess, whom wasn't at their station when I walked in. I asked if it was okay to sit at the bar, knowing I had done so before with no issue. according to her it was a big no and said it would be at least an hour to sit down, with a couple small tables in the bar area empty. I will no longer go to a place that I loved eating at, even years later under new ownership. I have friends whom come over from Independence to eat and I will advise them of the same as I have here. thanks but no thanks any more. keep your rude people.
Wanted a good steak house and it took them over a hour to seat us and over a hour to get our food very slow business and the food wasn’t good what so ever.

Dined with a large group last night. Service was stellar, drinks were tasty and the steak tips were delicious. Seasoning on the fried mushrooms, pickles and all of the food was spot on! Loved the experience and enjoyed the nostalgia of Jim's and the attentiveness of the staff. We felt cared for and welcomed. Thank you for a great evening!

Great ribeye steaks cooked to perfection! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the beer is ice cold and the service is great.

We waited for all of our family to get in which was from Wichita Falls, Texas or Kansas Pittsburgh, Kansas and we couldn’t wait to go to Jims. It’s one of our favorite places to go. I haven’t been for eight or nine months talk to indigo we were so disappointed the onion rings were such a small amount. They didn’t even cover the bottom of the plate. Our french fries were almost burnt and dry. My nephew ordered four chicken strips and got three and it’s not like it’s real cheap so we were pretty disappointed.
Slice out of a time machine, enjoyed our meal there.would go back
Absolutely zero seasoning on the steaks and potatoes. The service was slow, and the old fashioned was undrinkable. The restaurant atmosphere was stuck in the 70s...I won't be back.
Very disappointed with our visit. Food was beyond disappointing. Steaks while cooked correctly was made with no seasoning. Clearly bag salad was not good. Drinks messed up and made poorly. The waitress we had was trying her best but did not make up for the experience of the food definitely not being worth the cost. I’m pretty sure a steak from Applebees or Chilis would have been better. Do not recommend and do not plan on going back.
Restaurantji Recommends
the Owner is constantly yelling and cussing at his staff. The food is decent but the man ruins his restaurant. I will not spend my money there again after seeing the way he treats people.
Great food and service!
Last night I witnessed the cook, who I later found out was the owner scream, yelling, and curse at a young waitress. It was beyond disgusting. Will NEVER EVER spend a dime here.
The food is always excellent when we go to Jim's Steak and Chop House. The onion rings are especially memorable. They were not greasy and practically melt in.your mouth. I ordered the grilled chicken breast, and it was huge and very juicy. I highly recommend this restaurant . It was well worth the half-hour drive from the Joplin area.
I've only DREAMED of steak being this PERFECT! The wait is kind of long, but well worth the wait! 😋😋😋
