Root Coffeehouse

This place is a whole vibe!!!! I was at the dmv and decided I needed some coffee. I looked on my gps to see what was near and decided to come here! It is awesome! The atmosphere, the music, the set up, the decor, the girls working, everything was perfect. This is a hidden gem if you aren’t from pittsburg. I ordered a hot mocha latte and it was delicious. I can’t wait to bring my husband and come back!

Came in just a little bit ago. The drinks were okay, made kind of wrong, but it was the customers that were allowed to sit in there that was crazy. There were two older men who were VERY loudly debating whether transgender people were allowed to exist. The staff did NOT kick them out, despite the clientele of the coffee house being overwhelmingly LGBTQ+. We left. Do not go here if you value safe spaces. :)

Kid-friendliness: There were bigots allowed to talk about bigoted things. Do not take your children here!

Stopped in the morning of the homecoming parade. Very welcoming environment and great service even though they were pretty busy. You can order any latte decaf which I appreciated! They were very locally oriented and were cheering on the bands when they could. I'll visit again if I'm in the area.

I hosted a surprise birthday party for my daughter at Root. It was a wonderful space, the staff was amazing, and the owner was very responsive and helpful in my planning process! It was such a cute atmosphere to hang out with friends, read a book, study, or even play a game! Also had a coffee while there and it was delicious! I'll be coming back when I'm in town! The atmosphere in this place makes me feel very relaxed. The coffee is delicious and reasonably priced, the staff is very friendly, and I can get a discount by showing my PSU ID.

The atmosphere at Root is so AMAZING (if I could give it more stars, I would)! The Root is a beautiful place where you're able to feel the warmth and friendliness of the Pittsburg area. They have board games, crayons & paper for colouring, and that relaxing coffee shop vibe (with soft music playing). Their food and drinks can be a bit pricey (I wouldn't recommend ordering food from a bang-for-your-buck standpoint - though it is yummy) but it is WELL WORTH IT for the environment.

Kid-friendliness: This is not an overly quiet coffee shop that is perfect for children. There are plenty of activities with colouring and board game options.
