We live 2 hours away and had little stay-cation in plainville. Ate at the Cardinal Drive in and it was fantastic what a gem in middle of nowhere. Food was excellent and the atmosphere is great. If your looking for old school diner with great food definitely do not pass this place up.

Just happened on this delight and thought we'd try it. In an old drive in building and not very impressive from Highway 18 but the fried chicken Sunday buffet was wonderful. Some of the best fried chicken I've had in my 69 years. Mashed potatoes were real and tasty and the corn was flavorful and not overcooked. Good salad bar but nothing fancy. Felt like I was in a 1960's roadside diner with real homemade food. Brunch included a piece of carrot cake that made my wife a fan of a cake never cared for in the past. Cheerful and friendly waitress. Overall a great experience and highly recomend.
