Love eating here with our friends. Good prices, good options for kids, friendly service and staff.

I travel and eat at a lot of places, and I came to my hometown for the holidays last week. I decided to give Agave Azul Mexican Restaurant a try, as I’ve seen a lot of cool videos on their page and thought I’d see for myself. First off, the food is amazing and authentic! I also found the manager to be very friendly and helpful in guiding my cravings. The atmosphere here was fantastic- perfect for sitting back, relaxing, and having a few drinks. The servers and management were interactive and making me feel at home.

I came back through town and thought I would give this place a try again, despite some disappointment when I ate here the first time in town. Ordered fish tacos to go. Menu states that they come “with vegetables.” Online says avocado, lettuce, onions. They came with only shredded iceberg lettuce and bagged cheese. With rice and cheese on the side. First time I ordered, the order also included chips and salsa. That didn’t come this time. But there is a bigger reason that I will not go back or recommend. They have a sign that says there will be a credit card charge and to avoid it, pay cash. So I paid cash. Bill was $15 and some odd cents. I gave a $20. He says he owed me $4. I remained quiet to see what he actually brought back. He left, and obviously could not find change. I heard the manager yell across the restaurant “go to my purse and get my wallet- I have change in there”. I’m thinking why doesn’t the restaurant have some sort of till with change…???? He comes back with $4 exactly hands it to me and leaves again. When he came back with my order, I questioned it; what was the total and why did I get only 4 dollars back? Clearly flustered, he first offered that pick up orders have an additional charge. I said “what? Why?” He just said that is how it was set up. So I said that I was charge for pick up AND you didn’t give me all my change as well? He really didn’t have an answer and never addressed why he didn’t bring back all my change. But he did call the manager over. And as the manager was coming over, he quickly said quietly to me “maybe I’m wrong about how I charged you” or something to that effect. Manager looked up my order (on the machine- they don’t give receipts), and she said that the machine automatically adds a credit card charge even if you pay cash. The credit card charge has to manually be taken off- and since they don’t give a receipt- a person can’t easily see what the charges are or how much they are charged. In addition, there was no such thing as take out charge either. And no one ever talked about the reason I didn’t get all my change back to begin with. The manager started “recalculating” and said “we owe you $1.00”. They gave me a dollar, but still no receipt to see what exactly I was charged for. All these charges that shouldn’t even occur, add up for bigger profit for either the restaurant or employees to take. They are “scrapping” money off the top. If you don’t ask questions- which most people won’t - they are stealing small amounts from everyone that comes in the door. It wasn’t so much how much extra it was, it is that this is dishonest, unethical and immoral. They are simply stealing from people.

Went inside got sat down and they greeted us with 9-10 chips in the bowl with 1 bowl of salsa. This establishment is racist because we only got 1 bowl of everything and a table with MEXICAN people got 6-7 baskets of chips. The meat in the taco salad tasted like Taco Bell meat. Chimichanga was hard to cut and was VERY crunchy. Rice was dry like the Sahara desert, I felt like I was eating a cactus. Overall this place is racist if your white do not think about coming here.

I ordered the fish tacos for take out. They came with rice, beans, chips and salsa.

When I walked into restaurant to pick up- oh my- it smelled OUTSTANDING inside!! Drool worthy! Hostess said that fajitas were being prepared. I’d get fajitas on the smell alone next time.

On the online ordering form, fish tacos come with avocado, onion and lettuce. Sadly, none of these things were on my tacos. My tacos only had chunks of fish and a sprinkle of bagged, shredded coleslaw mix - which was cabbage and carrots. No cilantro(which is a standard on fish tacos), no lettuce, no onion, no avocado.

The fish was very well seasoned and the tacos tasted good. Would have they been better with the other stuff on them? Absolutely.

Maybe they ran out of the ingredients? If so, I wish I had been informed, as I would have selected something else.

But staff was very friendly, despite it being the end of the day. Restaurant is very nice inside.

I really wanted to give 5 stars, but I’m only doing 4 since my meal did not have on it what was advertised.

That said, I would absolutely eat here again - without hesitation!

I've been in the area a few times but never stopped to eat. I'm glad I finally did! Reading through some of the other reviews that don't reflect kindly on the place are probably not accurate. The place is extremely clean, staff was beyond courteous, food was phenomenal, Dos Equis was cold. JG was our waitress and did a great job of making us feel at home. Didn't catch the barkeeps name, but she was friendly and prompt as well.

Had the Agave Azul burrito. Came out quick and hot. It's a big boy, you won't leave hungry.

Folks, this place is a gem - don't pass it up.

Delicious food. I had chimichanga with beans and rice, my wife had shrimp fajitas with JUMBO shrimp. I would have given 5 stars for the service but they forgot the tortillas for the fajitas in our to-go order. Overall, excellent ?

It's easy to see why this establishment is celebrating their one year anniversary with a great amount of success behind them.Their drinks are boozy and tasty, their food delicious, and the wait staff attentive.I wish they were located closer to home so I could go more often. And before you go, don't forget to tape a memory to the ceiling in the bar!
