My wife and I came to the Hotel at Old Town for one of the few date nights we can take a year. We have stayed here before and it is a very pretty hotel that has a nice 1920s style and decor. Unfortunately I did not read reviews prior to our trip. When deciding where to stay there was No mention of construction on the web site. For example, we considered a competitor down the road but with their construction starting on the day of our trip we decided to come back to Hotel at Old Town. This would be a common practice to inform guests of construction or disruption on your premises. Thus our surprise when we checked in and were informed at the front desk that they were undergoing construction and that the beautiful mirrored elevators were completely covered in cardboard that was torn on the floor. The front desk assured us that they were "mostly moving in furniture" so there should be no problems. Unfortunately at 0811 in the morning the hammering and saw noises began. Thankfully they seemed to subside by 0900, but the wakeup call had been achieved.I am less concerned about the construction. A business needs to keep up to date and to do these things to keep their reputation as a nice and luxury accommodation. I do not understand why you would not wait for construction to begin nearer checkout time but I digress. What concerns me the most is, while most likely unintended, the lack of warning for customers makes this seem like a shady, underhanded, and dishonest tactic. I do understand that if you place those warnings it may lose you potential business during the time of construction or force you to discount rooms, but by making this a surprise for your customers you potentially lose business permanently.

Wow! This is the best hotel I’ve stayed at in years. Super clean, beautiful decor and history, free parking, delicious breakfast buffet. I was so pleasantly surprised to find this jewel in the middle of Old

Edit: There was a huge crack in the ceiling, which occurred in less than 15 minutes of intense noise. Disgusting plaster and water were coming from the ceiling. My number was left with the front desk and they were aware that I had reservations elsewhere and was in the process of dealing with impact of the storm on travel plans. The front desk told me that they were not responsible for the noise or the potential danger of the ceiling cracking, and even laughed when I mentioned that I didn't want to be breathing in potentially harmful materials from a construction crew that they said was completely out of the hotels control and not operating with regard to guest safety.Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had, they also managed to make it humiliating as a bonus.Upgraded to a suite, understood about some maintenance work being done. Was awoken at 8:30 on the dot with apparently their whole shop above my bed. Front desk though it was hilarious that I didn't want to be awoken by a circular saw and 3 inches of disgusting water leaking from the ceiling.I was harassed by the crew, they pointed and laughed at me even though they apparently did not realize that they were causing serious damage to occupied rooms. But I guess the staff thinks that's totally cool and normal. So may be I am the crazy one.Unsafe, hazardous, decibel levels exceeding 135 which feels like an exaggeration, but unfortunately wasn't. When I asked for a room that was safe I was told they could not guarantee it, and that they would be calling the sheriff because my request of a safe and habitable room was egregious.I stayed as long as I could because I actually did want to have a conversation with the local PD, but unsurprisingly that turned out to be a hollow threat because obviously they are not in compliance and know it. Below is the tiny crack that appeared in an alarmingly short amount of time, it is at least 8 feet across and bubbling. But obviously management is still minimizing my complaints and not taking it seriously. Terrible experience.

I had to drive to Wichita Kansas to take my daughter and to have some surgery done. I decided to stay at the hotel at Old Town and was glad that I did. It's a beautiful hotel inside and the service was great as well as the breakfast buffet that I had the following morning. My room was basically a small suite with a regular refrigerator, small stove, with microwave included dishes, pots and pans and everything that you would require if you wanted to do your own cooking inside. It really made you feel at home. They have guest parking next door in a parking garage so my vehicle was protected from the weather. The picture that I have included is from the balcony of my hotel room looking down to the atrium of the hotel. I would definitely recommend using this hotel. It is located in the middle of Old Town where there's a lot of restaurants and bars and stores for your enjoyment while you're down there. One side note is that the third and fourth levels are being redecorated at the current time but should be finished fairly quickly. The fourth floor still has the workout room and laundry which are available for customers to use if so desired.I highly recommend the Hotel at Old Town.

So if you want a trendy and classy place to stay this is the place. Forget all the main hotels. This is right in the middle of old Town. So there are a million things to do. And the prices for rooms are not expensive for the quality you get. I would pay double and still be satisfied. Ive stayed 4 times now and it was always good.

A few years ago we had a very nice experience here, so we decided to book a stay for our anniversary. We loved the experience of the history of the hotel, the beautiful mirrored elevators, and seeing the historic information and displays on all of the floors. Had we known about the disruptive construction happening all over the top floors, we would not have booked a stay, as we only live 30 minutes away. Both elevators were totally covered up with cardboard and the loud drilling and sawing began at 8:15 am. We ended up leaving early since the leisurely morning was disturbed. The front desk apologized and said be sure to come back when construction was done. We would have preferred to wait and come AFTER construction. Had no idea it was happening until we checked in. So disappointed.Edit - Mentioning the conditions ahead of time for your week guests would be helpful……the purpose of this review.

Right in the heart of old Town so you can walk to your next spot. Plenty of parking. Liked the place so much I booked a room for my in laws over Christmas. Prices on the rooms are excellent as well!Food & drinks: Hotel bar has live jazz every sat and sun evening and great prices on drinks.

My husband and I travel with the railroad, I’ve seen my fair share of hotels. This hands down was the BEST experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious, their beautiful view of the downtown, restaurants close. We will definitely be staying
