I drive by this place every day, to and from work, so it seems silly to admit that I have NEVER been to Jimmie's Diner before! This longtime Wichita icon was like a throwback to the 1950s, complete with tabletop juke boxes and poodle skirts worn by the waitresses. We kept it simple and ordered burgers for our meal, along with fried mushrooms as an appetizer. The food was great, and we, overall, had a wonderful experience!
It was a bit loud inside. The food was really good and the server was prompt and understood the order enough to ask the right questions. Easy parking and a nice atmosphere made the list pleasant. Will go back.
Ordered Eggs Benedict. Looked better than it was. The poached eggs were ordered soft yolks but a lot of the white was also runny. The ham was just deli thin sliced pieces, but the real problem is the hollandaise sauce was bad and did not taste anything like hollandaise sauce. I'm was curdled and floating in oil. I've made hollandaise sauce and it can break but this was not real sauce. Expand the photo and you can see the sauce curdled. The hashbrowns were poor and must...
