So to be clear, I have lived in this area practically my whole life, and my father would go to Merle’s and I’d basically beg him to bring me a Ruben as a child all growing up.
As an adult, I can tell you that it’s just such a chill nice place and the food is literally killer. It’s simple, but what they do is done right. I think that these places need to be recognized for having the consistency over 30+ years.
Keep it up everyone, cause you’re doing it right!

This delightful neighborhood joint has bedn in operation for 90 years. A tiny kitchen puts out pretty darn good sandwiches. The beer is ice cold and some say the pour is very generous in the whiskey glasses. Great old time decor. Folks are loyal to Merle's and friendly with strangers.

I had half a Ruben and a cup of chili. Both were hands down the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Also the bloody Mary's were 3 dollars and also phenomenal. Can't wait to go back

Believe it or not, it's been 27 years since I was last at Merle's. We moved back to ICT and are spending time catching up on old places. The Reuben Sandwich is still incredible. The best in the Midwest. Our other favorite was the enchilada topped with chili. Get your taste buds ready, they will make you come back for more. Chris was super, helping make our evening great. We will definitely be back to try some of the other items on the menu.
