Got denied service by the older lady on a tuesday with plenty of open tables and told to come back an hour later. she didn’t want to serve. gave a nasty attitude and was disrespectful.

This review is for the restaurant The Tasting Room and not the hotel. We saw a billboard on I-70 advertising the restaurant. We decided to try it rather than wait to eat in Kansas City 3 hours away. Service was incredibly slow. I wasn’t even keeping track of time from when we walked in, but it was quite a while before our orders were even taken. We had ample opportunity to walk out before ordering and should have. It took an hour just from time ordering to getting our food which wasn’t even that great even though it looked delicious. The bread at the start of the meal was excellent. That was the only good thing. At least an hour and a half later (from first time I looked at my watch, not from the moment we walked in) we demanded the check and left. We did ask the server why the delays and all she could say is that they were busy. This little restaurant has less than ten tables. A couple next to us waited just as long as we did and they ordered burgers. It’s not even about the money, It’s about the time wasted. Very disappointing.
Such a little gem. The food was great. Atmosphere charming.

Stopped here on our way through Kansas. Stayed in the hotel above. Potions were generous and delicious. I’m not sure what they call their fries but they are out of this world. Kind of like a steak cut curly fry. Both of us enjoyed our meal and the piece of bread pudding that we were sent upstairs with is the biggest I’ve ever seen. I’m almost ashamed to admit that I ate the whole thing. Lol. Sooo good.

Great food. Great history. Very clean place
Very very good food , drinks and service.
The food was wonderful: the entree, the dessert, the service, the beer list. Wonderful! I only wish I could’ve eaten twice. Also our waiter was doing a really good job of keeping up with a crowd and looked totally unruffled.

Great place to stay, the owner and her staff are amazing and they have great food.
last call at 10:30 on a Friday night, pathetic. and sh!tty attitude on top, piss poor service and at best occasionally ok selection.
This was our first time at this restaurant and they did not disappoint!!! Our party had the Rueben sandwich with house made onion rings, the bacon cheese burger with house made chips, and I had the chicken fried steak dinner! It was great and the service was excellent! Thank you Sample Room for a great eating experience!! 3 ladies from Larned, Kansas ???

I wouldnt go to here to eat, even if I was starving!!!!! We love to stay at the Wilson RV park, this is our 3rd time there. We finally were able to eat at The Sample Room Tavern, was told this place was the bomb, it wasn't. The tables are so close together I could barely get in my seat. My daughter's and my dinner was ok, but my husband's bacon cheeseburger came without the bacon and it was burned to a crisp. The waiter was good and apologized for the bad food. The manager didn't even come over to talk to us. The Snack Shack is much better. Take it from this 20+ year disabled AF veteran DO NOT EAT here.

I would probably not come here again if there were more options.Service was fairly good they forgot to bring us some things we asked for.Took about 30 minutes to get food with a reservation. The food was okay, but I don't think it was worth the price. It was the worst prime rib I've ever had, and it was $28. Pricing for the specials is not advertised or shown conveniently.Steak was overcooked, and salmon was dry.The friendliness and helpfulness of the waiter made these 3 stars. Would've been 2 if they weren't so kind. They serve rolls with cold cinnamon butter, which is not great. but the rolls were yummy.Thousand island dressing was homemade and quite yummy.Accessibility ♿️: 0/5 stairs to entrances, tables are too low and too close together. Not appropriate bathroom. Parking is mostly across the street in a gravel area.Kid friendly: they have high chairs, but I didn't see a changing table. They have a kids' menu, which is about $6-$8.

Popular place with the locals, so make reservations. Also, only one of two places to eat dinner in town. Well made drinks.

Outstanding customer service from the front desk and bar/restaurant. I would highly recommend staying here. History preserved and amenities are great.
