The food at the cafe is a lot better than you might expect. Years back it was pretty standard cafeteria fair, but over the last few years the head chef and the menu have changed dramatically. The burgers in particular are top notch. Cakes, quiche, pork chops, all worth eating.I went in to do food photography for the new menu and ended up stuffing my face till it hurt... and then I ate a couple more bites.Definitely worth trying out if you're just passing through and don't...
Nothing too fancy here; but well seasoned country cooking at reasonable prices. We had turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and white bean soup. All were delicious and well portioned. Also offered sandwiches, salads, and desserts which we didn't try. Service was fast and easy.
We have stopped at the artisan center/rest stop many time during our travels. This is the first time we ate in the cafe. What a nice place to have lunch. I had the catfish and my wife had the bean soup. Both were tasty. The staff was nice and the eating area is very well appointed with the local art. The food is served cafeteria style with a grill and salad bar available. Much nicer than fat food at about the same price.
