I was there before a Bengals game so the place was busy but the barman was attentive and the service was good. I ordered the bacon, apple, and blue cheese pizza which was very tasty and had an excellent crust although, if anything, had a bit too much blue cheese but it's normally the opposite. There was a decent craft beer selection as well.

Keep in mind I'm reviewing this as a restaurant not a bar. I feel bad with all the good reviews this place has but it's my honest review. Yes the atmosphere is cool. Nice spot to eat.
That's where it stopped for me. The service was garbage. They had two servers and didn't seem overly busy so it was astonishing to be ignored like we were. It was like pulling teeth to get the servers attention. And when we did have her attention so forgot part of our order.. In the hour and a half we spent there she didn't refill our water once. We were there so long because that's how long the food took. Which is why we didnt bother telling her she forgot part of our order. We would have been there another hour waitingnfor it. It was crazy. The food was okay. Not bad but not great. The prices were cheap so I guess that's the saving grace if any.
You can still try it and hopefully it goes better. Like I said. This might have just been an off night.

Good atmosphere, excellent service & awesome pizza!! A block or so up from the river pier. We visited right before the WEBN Labor Day fireworks show. Place was full, but service was still good.
OMG! Cindy made the best damn margarita that I have ever had and I’m a professional alcoholic! Do it and tip her well. Worth every penny.

This was my first time at the gruff and it was absolutely amazing. The food was great. The service was amazing as well, and we got to sit outside and enjoy the weather! Most definitely will be going back.

The pizza was a really good price, and tasty! I have food allergies (wheat and soy are the big ones), and they were wonderful about checking the ingredients and having options that I could eat. The GF crust was good! Our server was great, and the outside dining was nice since there is a nice view and not too much traffic.
