I was apprehensive reading the recent reviews but our food and service was really good! Especially the fried green tomatoes 😋. My husband got the open face roast beef for his entree and I got the chicken strips with onion rings and a side salad. The salad was very fresh and that's sometimes hard to find these days. Our waiter, John, did a great job and was very friendly!

Please do not waste your time on the Hot Brown . It was once one of my favs. there. However, last week I ordered it an it was horrible. The cheese sauce tasted like it was right out of a can. I appeared they used bacon bits that tasted like rubber and to top it off the tomatoes were pale almost white. What a disappointment! My server observed tha I only ate a couple bits but did not ask if I wanted coming else. This was the worse meal I’ve had there is 9ver 40 years of dining at the whistle stop.😔

We were in town for the fall Glendale Days festival & decided to eat at The Whistle Stop. We waited about an hour for a table (it was right after opening & its one of the busiest days Glendale has.

The service was excellent from the girls at the door seating people to our respectful & friendly waiter. The food was great & the atmosphere here is so laidback & relaxed.

Also, its located right beside railroad tracks & we heard (and felt) a train go by 3 timea while we were eating?

This is a must stop if you're in the area or traveling through Kentucky.

Out of all the times I've been there I've not had a bad meal. Until 3 weeks ago. I had the chicken and dumplings, okra, and apples. I had tea to drink with lemons. I put the lemons in my tea. No biggie, right? WRONG. you couldn't have counted to 40 after we left and I puked my guts up...twice. My husband didn't get sick but I sure did. And , no, I didn't have the flu or covid. I had food poisoning. The next day it came out the other end. Needless to say it's going to be a hot minute before I go back. They have a rating of 93%. Maybe they need to look at that other 7%.

I love the fried chicken but the last two times I have ordered this the crust is to hard to chew! I tried my friends dumplings and all I can say is do not order them! The dumplings tasted like chicken noodle soup with so much red seasoning in them that you could not taste the dumplings they were disgusting!
