1st off...our server (Mariah) was great! She was attentive but not intrusive. 5 stars! My wife and I had the catfish (Blackened for her and fried for me), loaded baked potato, and mayo slaw. The slaw was epic. We truly enjoyed it. The fried fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The blackened fish unfortunately was very dry and way under seasoned. The worst part of the meal was the baked potato. The potato was room temp at best and the cheese was not melted at all. Overall a 3 star experience.

I walked in after my stay at a hotel and the waitress was just standing there on her phone and we stood there for 10 minutes then with the rudest look she said ok whatever here’s your table and she slammed the menu and silverware on the table and the food I got a burger and mold was on it and I asked for a new burger and she said no so I was hungry and then the table wasn’t washed and food was all over it it was the worst restaurant I ever went to and they still charged me for the burger

We stayed at the lodge as a stop on our way back from FL to IL on a recommendation of a family member. The front desk and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room while a bit small was clean and updated, but it was adequate for our needs. The pool looked very nice and view from dining room was very scenic. We didn’t have a chance to enjoy any of the amenities or nearby hiking, etc. The building is definitely older and showing its age, but that was part of its charm. Yes
We rented a 3 bedroom cottage for my daughters Graduation from Murray State. I have stayed here in the past. THe lodge is not the most stunning facility but typical of most state lodges. Our Cottage was ok a little worn out which is expected since the state government doesn’t fund the park like they should, but it was adequate and nice but dated. Breakfast was included and they offered tow options traditional breakfast (eggs, home fries, bacon, biscuit and gravy) or a waffle and choice of meat. The food was great and my son loved the waffle. The wait staff was great.
I see all of these raving reviews which led me to booking here for an overnight trip with my family. I must say that the front desk staff was very kind. Nothing negative to say about them. You can also tell that they try their hardest to clean the cottages. That is where the goodness ends though. There was a half living mouse stuck to a sticky trap in one of our bedrooms. I say half, because it had been squirming so long it tore itself apart, but was still breathing. The walls and baseboards were damaged throughout. The couch was new...in 1984. And had tears in it. The bathroom was well worn. The screened porch had many holes in the screen but the fix was someone stuffing toilet paper in the holes to plug them. There were remnants of old decorations taped to the walls. I know this is a cabin, but it was severely under maintained. Were very much looking forward to the breakfast. I got mine down, but my kids could not tolerate it. The eggs were stringy, gravy tasted like vinegar, and meat was burned. I would not make this trip again to stay at this place.
I was just here, the food, and service is usually some of the best, but after today I do not think I will go back. After a half an hour, or longer wait for the food the only thing served to us was water, while people coming in after us were almost done eating. Also people coming in less than 3 foot away, or even sitting around us did not have a mask during this pandemic either. When I got up to leave, was told the waitress has only been here two weeks, and does not know what she is doing. Not sure knowing this why it wasn’t addressed sooner, instead of after I gave up, and went somewhere else to eat!
Best grilled chicken sammy ever

First u will get a down home feeling from the owners and staff. I've been there several times and I've never heard or seen a cross word. As for the food, u will NOT leave hungry or disappointed. Bowls of beans, hushpuppies, slaw made with ur choice of salad dressing or vinegar. Also do u want one piece of fish or all u can eat? Bc that's also ur choice. Remember their pie & cobbler selections and get u a piece for home. I was raised on sweet tea and their's is so good and cold. I'm ready for another trip to The Pond!
Great food
Always good food. Ordered the grilled shrimp. Received 2 skewers full - 10+ on each one, wrapped in aluminum foil with butter and garlic. Yummy!Their hush puppies and white beans with homemade chow chow is the best I have ever eaten.
We've tried the Pond three times now and every time the food is quite marginal. I'm sure they make good fried fish and french fries. But they sure don't know how to, or pay attention to making, anything else. The salads seem like they've been sitting around for hours. Today our salad was frozen, yea, even the tomato was crunchy frozen. Lettuce does not freeze very well at all. The prices are cheap, just wish they would have good quality even if it means a slightly higher price. We will not go again, we've given up on the Pond.Update: The Pond did remove the charge for the salad when we complained about it. They were nice about that.
Absolutely delicious and the service was amazing and so friendly! Loved every minute!
