Come for the Queso, Stay for the Nail Biting Horror
Ah, Chuy’s. A Tex-Mex institution where the food is decent, the atmosphere is lively, and the servers’ fingernails are long enough to qualify for their own zip code.
I walked in excited for some creamy jalapeño dip and left questioning my life choices. My server approached, and I swear, I thought Freddy Krueger had picked up a side gig. Ever seen someone balance a tray of sizzling fajitas while also looking like they just finished a full set at the nail salon? It’s an art form, truly. Watching those talons tap against my plate as it was set down sent a shiver down my spine. I didn’t know whether to ask for more chips or an emergency intervention.
The food? Hard to enjoy when you’re too busy making sure your enchiladas don’t come with a surprise acrylic garnish. Call me picky, but I like my tortillas hand-rolled, not claw-pressed.
One star because I survived the meal. Would I return? Only if I forget to schedule my next therapy session.

This was our first time eating at a Chuys. We loved the chips and Jalapeño dip, I pretty much got full on that alone. The walls were filled with pictures of people dogs, apparently if you bring one in you get a free appetizer. Our waitress was wonderful, and although I don’t remember her name… it was a Sunday night and she said she typically was the bar tender.

Too cold in the back, ALL the customers at all the tables in the back had to leave their winter coats on. Turn the temperature up in the back. & close the window blinds.-January 2025

My fiancé and I were searching for a good caterer for our wedding that is taking place later this year. When meeting the Chuy’s staff and coordinator, they were very welcoming and answered all of our questions. We thought we had found the one—personable, dependable and the food was great. However, upon following up with the restaurant about forming a contract and placing a downpayment, we were told things such as “we’ve never really had this much back and forth with someone about catering, especially for a smaller wedding.” Upon explaining that most of our vendors immediately sent contracts and requested some form of down payment, and that we just wanted to make sure our bases were covered, we were told we could seek another caterer if we were uncomfortable. After about 2-3 months of having confirmed with them, we were more than a little shocked to get backlashed for checking in and trying to get a contract put in place. It felt very unprofessional and very different from how we had communicated with them in the past. If you want a caterer that allows for payment plans or putting half down early on, this is not the one for you. We are very disappointed and now having to search elsewhere due to their reaction on something we assumed needed to be taken care of. What’s sad is I have liked Chuy’s and their food for years. Now I am not sure I will be going back.
My family and I were passing through for the night and needed a place to eat. Our hotel recommended Chuy's as an option; we chose to give it a try.
Overall, we were very happy with everything. The atmosphere was IMO unique compared to what your typically see. The service was awesome and made our time there very enjoying. Lastly, the food was great and the portions.
Enjoyed our time at Chuy's! Thanks!

My husband and I have enjoyed Chuy’s story since the restaurant opened in Lexington, Kentucky. The food meets all our expectations. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Our experiences visiting our Chuy’s keeps us going back almost every week. Our favorites are the combo deluxe and the taco and enchilada combo. Of course the chips and the creamy jalapeño sauce are always delicious!! We highly recommend Chuy’s!!
