Today it was my first time eating at this restaurant the food tasted good and waiter was very friendly.
If you want to try new non-American food, this is a Must for anyone looking to support local businesses. The owners and workers are sweet and personable! As for the interior, its very well designed and looks like a cute cafe with a lot of cool decorations and a fitting color palette. There isn’t an item on the menu that isn’t good. The flavors are incredible and unique in each dish. The portions are on the larger side so combined with the high quality food, I can appreciate the price. I highly recommend trying anything with pork and/or yuca. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Amazing Peruvian food. We have had the ceviche several times, and it has been fresh and citrus-y every time. The green-lip mussels are really tasty, and the chicheron (sp?) was crispy and not too heavy. The soups are light yet satisfying. The pisco sour also gets a thumbs up. Also, the service was extremely friendly and they make you feel like family.
I have never had Peruvian food prior to this. I wanted to check out the food options and actually had seen a picture of a specific drink that I thought was similar to Horchata in a picture and assumed it was an authentic drink option. When I got to Maty's I was the only one there both times I have gone this past month to try the food. Unfortunately the drink I had seen was an adult beverage (alcohol) and I don't drink. Bummer! So I ordered on my first visit the Lomo Saltado. This food is fantastic! When the food arrived the server offered the homemade hot sauce and I couldn't pass it up. Both options were excellent. While the Food, Service and Environment is fantastic the only tough part is the pricing vs portions and size. Unfortunately the lunch portion while seemingly a better price is still a bit expensive. On both occasions I have spent just over $20 for Lunch. Instead of reducing price I believe you could make a larger portion and it would also work. Please check this place out and not only grab a great meal but also leave a great review!
Second time I came here and the flavors were even better than the first. I'm Peruvian and all I can say is that the food here is really authentic. A must try!
We loved this little gem located just on the edge of Lexington. If you are looking for authentic Peruvian this is your place. The food and service were excellent. The owner is so sweet to share her passion with you. I recommend the ceviche, pescado a lo macho and the pisco sour. We will be back because there are many more plates I want to try.
We happened to find Maty by accident and jumped at the chance to try Peruvian cuisine. We started with a Pork Tamal and the Causa (chicken style) as appetizers. Tamal was obviously homemade and delicious! The Causa was fantastic...mashed potatoes layered with avocado and chicken with this incredible sauce that I could put on everything! I surprised how tasty this was.My husband ordered the Tallarín Verde con Saltado, a spaghetti dish with pesto and veggies. It did not taste like Italian pesto pasta...had a hint of that flavor with a hint of heat. I ordered the Chicharron (pork) appetizer. That pork was deep fried with this incredible seasoning and was accompanied by yucca fries & tomato red onion cilantro salad. Absolutely delicious! We also tried the Papa a la huancaína appetizer and again that sauce was delicious! You'll have the option for sauces with the Chicharron. Tarter sauce came with it and it was good but not a traditional tarter. Try the pepper sauces. Spicy and outstanding!
We had our first visit today and both the ceviche and arroz con pollo were delicious. My husband had his first Pisco sour (as well as his first authentic Peruvian food ever), and y’all did not disappoint. Thank you!
Maty's was delicious. You can tell the food is prepared with the most care and detail. Service was impeccable and we did not feel rushed but rather were made to feel our meal was an entire 'experience.' The atmosphere is clean and cozy, and designed with every detail in mind. They even have tablets the servers can use to show a picture of every item on the menu! We will be back!
Highly recommend!!!! Nice family & locally owned restaurant. Very friendly and amazing food!

First time visit this past Saturday evening. The restaurant was beautiful, extremely clean and spotless (with a 100 inspection score) on the window. The food was clean and flavorful and the best dinner I've had in this town in many years. The owner introduced herself and spoke with us for a while, then the chef came out too...all such kind and friendly people! Please folks stop by and check it out; also all of their from scratch desserts looked incredible. We will definitely be back soon!!!
We came from California to Kentucky to visit my brother and I wanted to try a Peruvian restaurant here in Kentucky. California just does not have very many good Peruvian restaurants. Maty’s here in Kentucky was awesome. Excellent service and very friendly. The food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
A must try in Lexington KY, authentic Peruvian food made with authentic Peruvian ingredients. The restaurant decor and feel is so welcoming and clean. You can sense the love and passion behind every dish they serve. Thank you so much for a great Peruvian food experience!!!
Ordered the Lomo Saltado and peruvian-asian chicken stir fry. Food was delicious and out quick, the staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous, and the location is cozy! Highly recommended.
Excellent food, personable staff, and inviting atmosphere! I'll be back!
