If you want to try new non-American food, this is a Must for anyone looking to support local businesses. The owners and workers are sweet and personable! As for the interior, its very well designed and looks like a cute cafe with a lot of cool decorations and a fitting color palette. There isn’t an item on the menu that isn’t good. The flavors are incredible and unique in each dish. The portions are on the larger side so combined with the high quality food, I can appreciate the price. I highly recommend trying anything with pork and/or yuca. You won’t be disappointed!!!

YAS! I really didn't think I'd find true Peruvian food in Lexington. Their ceviche is fresh, delicious, perfectly citrus filled and refreshing. They have chicha morada which I haven't had since leaving Miami and it was SO delicious. My friend had the pescado a lo macho which is fish in a delectable seafood sauce served with shrimp and mussels. I can't believe how reasonably priced this place is too. They just celebrated their one year anniversary and I hope they'll be around for many more.

We just had our first meal at Mary's and it was delicious. Everything was very fresh and freshly made. I recommend the the mussels--the Peruvian corn with them was so good and the mussels were gigantic and oh so delicious.

Amazing Peruvian food. We have had the ceviche several times, and it has been fresh and citrus-y every time. The green-lip mussels are really tasty, and the chicheron (sp?) was crispy and not too heavy. The soups are light yet satisfying. The pisco sour also gets a thumbs up. Also, the service was extremely friendly and they make you feel like family.

Deliciously authentic Peruvian food in a cheerfully decorated space. Culinarily speaking, as France is to Europe, Peru is to South America. The ceviche (fish, shrimp, or mixed seafood) is utterly fresh, tart & refreshing. Grilled skewers of shrimp, chicken, or beef were moist and beautifully seasoned. Causa is an unusual cold layered appetizer or light entree featuring mashed potatoes, avocado and shrimp, chicken or tuna, topped with slap-your-madre good homemade mayo. Sounds odd, but trust me, it's a winner. The husband and wife team who own and operate Maty's are friendly and clearly love what they do. Check it out and help celebrate some welcome diversity in Lexington's restaurant scene.

I have never had Peruvian food prior to this. I wanted to check out the food options and actually had seen a picture of a specific drink that I thought was similar to Horchata in a picture and assumed it was an authentic drink option. When I got to Maty's I was the only one there both times I have gone this past month to try the food. Unfortunately the drink I had seen was an adult beverage (alcohol) and I don't drink. Bummer! So I ordered on my first visit the Lomo Saltado. This food is fantastic! When the food arrived the server offered the homemade hot sauce and I couldn't pass it up. Both options were excellent. While the Food, Service and Environment is fantastic the only tough part is the pricing vs portions and size. Unfortunately the lunch portion while seemingly a better price is still a bit expensive. On both occasions I have spent just over $20 for Lunch. Instead of reducing price I believe you could make a larger portion and it would also work. Please check this place out and not only grab a great meal but also leave a great review!

OMG! What a disappointment!! This restaurant was recommended by the front desk hotel receptionist downtown Lexington. He meant well but this recommendation was mediocre at best. Worst meal in Lex. I believe you me it would be hard to beat. Very small portions, completely tasteless, chewy lomo, flavorless frozen french fries.. you I really need to go any further? All offered at a whopping $21. See for your selves, pic posted below. .... So much better restaurants out there!

Second time I came here and the flavors were even better than the first. I'm Peruvian and all I can say is that the food here is really authentic. A must try!

Took my brother who lived in Peru for years to Maty's for lunch. Started with Chicha Morada drinks and Ensalada Matys. I ordered Arroz con Mariscos (Rice with seafood and mixed veggies) and my brother had Parihuela (Fish in a seafood soup). We had Alfajores (sugar cookies) for dessert. The service was excellent and we met the married owners. Maria was from Lima, Peru and came from the kitchen to ensure the food tasted as expected. According to my brother the food tasted authentic are prepared close to what he was used to in Peru. It was fresh and absolutely delicious!! We look forward to our next visit.

We loved this new neighborhood addition. If you haven't tried Peruvian food before this a great introduction and if you have, this place is the real deal. The service is warm and welcoming and you can feel it's family run. We will back and are very glad we have more options in Lexington.

We loved this little gem located just on the edge of Lexington. If you are looking for authentic Peruvian this is your place. The food and service were excellent. The owner is so sweet to share her passion with you. I recommend the ceviche, pescado a lo macho and the pisco sour. We will be back because there are many more plates I want to try.

I wound up in the area after leaving the Lexington airport and found this place about 10 minutes away. The food was great, the owners are great, and you'll find delicious food here that you won't find anywhere else in Lexington!

We happened to find Maty by accident and jumped at the chance to try Peruvian cuisine. We started with a Pork Tamal and the Causa (chicken style) as appetizers. Tamal was obviously homemade and delicious! The Causa was fantastic...mashed potatoes layered with avocado and chicken with this incredible sauce that I could put on everything! I surprised how tasty this was.My husband ordered the Tallarín Verde con Saltado, a spaghetti dish with pesto and veggies. It did not taste like Italian pesto pasta...had a hint of that flavor with a hint of heat. I ordered the Chicharron (pork) appetizer. That pork was deep fried with this incredible seasoning and was accompanied by yucca fries & tomato red onion cilantro salad. Absolutely delicious! We also tried the Papa a la huancaína appetizer and again that sauce was delicious! You'll have the option for sauces with the Chicharron. Tarter sauce came with it and it was good but not a traditional tarter. Try the pepper sauces. Spicy and outstanding!

Amazing food! Family friendly restaurant. Bright, with great decor and the staff is incredibly friendly! We met the owner and family who were so hospitable and we felt so at home. I can't recommend one dish as they are all amazing! I was scared trying ceviche in Lexington but we were wowed! If you love Peruvian food or if you have ever just wanted to try Peruvian food, check this place out! Five stars!!!
