The place is new and I didn't know what to think. BUT, the quality and freshness of the food is fantastic! I've been places where the food tastes first frozen and then fried - NOT the case here. Fresh, tasty, and just the right amount of fancy 😋 👌

This is our favorite sushi spot and honestly our favorite restaurant in lexington period. Great drinks, even better food. If you want fast food go to McDonald's. If you want an experience come to Omakase.

I originally gave a good review the first time we ate here, even though there were a couple of challenges. We decided to return and unfortunately it turned to a one-star review. The service was extremely slow and there was no coordination with the kitchen and the timing of the food coming out. We ordered our drinks, two came out in a timely manner and the other one took forever. It looked like they didn't have a dedicated bar person and for a busy restaurant that's unacceptable. This is a fairly expensive restaurant and the service and food should be reflective of that. When our appetizers came out that gyōzas were cold (horrible) but luckily the spring rolls were hot. We ended up having to cancel two of the entrees, because I had finished mine before the others had even finished being prepared. We asked for our check so we could leave because we couldn't wait any longer. When one of the chefs heard that we were canceling the two entrees he looked at me and I pointed to my plate showing I had finished had my entree and the other two had not been served. His response was to just glare at me, obviously he didn't care, totally unacceptable. Don't waste your time and money at this restaurant. We ourselves will be gong back to Zen to eat our Japanese, even though it is a longer drive for us.

Cool atmosphere. Tiny portions. Service was good. Too expensive for the portion sizes, IMHO.

This is by far the best Sushi I have ever had. We split three special rolls, which proved to be the perfect amount for my wife and I. This is a fantastic place for anyone who loves unique sushi rolls beyond a California Roll.

Finished our meal off with the Creme Brule. Excellent as well!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I definitely would. I have never had such beautifully prepared, exquisitely fresh sushi. The signature rolls are unique without being too “out there.” The plating was beautiful, each roll had a delicious sauce pairing per plate. We had the Chevy Chase, the Pink Flamingo & the Sex on the Beach (yellowtail & scallop!). Also shared the crème brûlée for dessert, also fantastic!! Servers & bartender were awesome. We’re not locals, but I will definitely come back every time we visit Kentucky. Cannot wait to try the Chef Set the next time!! 100% recommend!!

Visiting for the first time and the entire experience was exceptional. Top notch service with amazing food and ambience. I tried a sashimi platter and it was a work of art. The oyster I felt had a slightly fishy smell, but understandable that it had to be frozen and can't be fresh with no source closely. Overall, great experience and will come back again for sure.

Excellent sushi at a very good price for what you're getting. The only thing I would change is that unless you get a booth the chairs are pretty uncomfortable to sit in at the table. So ask for a booth. Hopefully they get new chairs.

My wife and I tried Omakase for the first time last night. It was nearly empty at 6:30pm on a Friday as we had got there right before the rush. We asked to sit at the sushi chef bar and were sat in front of our chef Fred. We greatly enjoyed listening to Fred tell us about various foods, fish, ingredients, etc while watching him assemble rolls that look more like art than they do food. His recommendations were fantastic and we enjoyed every single one of them. Fred made our experience truly special and we are very grateful for him. Everything we tried and ordered was phenomenal, it was definitely the best sushi we have had in Lexington. We had the gyoza, red snapper, yellowtail, tuna, pink flamingo roll, and limestone roll - all of which were exceptional. I would also like to recognize our waitress, Julia, who took wonderful care of us all night and was very kind and friendly. We can’t recommend the Palomar Omakase enough!
