It’s weird to us that this has such high reviews - everything was just “meh.” Meh sushi, meh service, meh ambience. We unfortunately wouldn’t come back here again.

Zen is by far my favorite sushi spot in Lexington. Their fresh catch list is awesome and changes often. Entrees are great too if you don't want sushi.

We love Zen Sushi - they have so many creative options of rolls and sushi / sashimi that you don't find at other places. The staff is also very helpful and friendly.

Love this place, it has really great options and a lot of variety right from authentic Japanese rolls to fusion rolls!
You can taste the freshness of the ingredients in the food!

I made reservations for my wifes birthday and asked for the chef to make something special. We got there and ordered. The young waitress mentioned it was my wifes birthday and said oh, we just give you a free desert when youre done. We said ok and ordered. She later on dropped a little slip of paper at the other end of the table we were sitting and walked away. I thought i was just so they knew all that we had ordered so didnt pay much attention to it. I asked her to ask the chef to make us something of his choosing foe the occasion and she seemed bewildered but said ok. We got our food and were almoat through when I asked her if the chef was almoat done with whatever he was making. She again looked confused and said oh, i didn't know you wanted something, then said well the chef dis make this special because he put all the sushi on one plate. The she appologiclzed and said do you want to order more food, ill go tell him. I said no its fine. So she walked away. When we were getting up to leave i glanced at the slip of paper - it was all the fresh fish they had gotten the day before AND THE REASON I CHOSE THAT PLACE! I had no idea thats what the paper was and the waitress never said anything. This was our first time at this place and the first time my wife could have sushi in several years due to breastfeeding. While the food was good and the waitress was overly present and nice, it was highly frustrating that we werent able to order the new fish and that the girl didnt tell the chef anything. Several missed opportunities for not only upsales, but for us to get what we actually went there for. I dont know that we will be back. It was a disappointment. Im also much more annoyed than my wife was/is, but I also make the reservations for us.

Service wasn't bad, the establishment needs one more server during busy times. Other than that food and drinks were excellent.

Hands down the best sushi resteraunt I have been to in the US. It is the only place I have found o-toro outside of Japan. A superb experience, it was as close to dining in Japan as you can get. Thank you!

Best sushi in the city. They put the effort into fish preparation and probably get higher quality fish (it tastes like it at least). Tastes like the sushi in Japan. Amazing

Faviorate sushi joint, chefs platter is always great and every roll is delicious. Cocktails are also outstanding, is is the service!

Right when we walked in we were greeted by the host who already knew who we were based off of our reservation before we ever said the name. They asked about our special event which was very sweet. All of the tables were full but it wasn’t too loud or crowded.

We got seats at the sushi counter (highly recommend) and got to watch chef Avi at work. It was amazing to see the level of detail that goes into each dish. Chef was very kind and answered all of our questions about the food and her experience.

NOW THE FOOD - Personal recommendations in order of favorites - the surf and turf roll #1 the wagyu beef was tender and sooooooo flavorful I am not kidding when I say I savored every bite for a full 2 minutes. The triple crown roll - super silky texture and very flavorful fish. The Sex on the Beach roll - beware of the pepper on top very spicy but once again the fish was perfect. Volcano - I will leave this one a mystery but let me just say prepare to be surprised, it’s definitely a volcano.

The mochi and vanilla ice cream was also very interesting and good - I have never tried anything quite like it.

Overall this is our new Special Event place. Love the atmosphere, the service, Chef Avi is awesome and of course the food.

Service, food, and ambiance were perfect. Sushi was so fresh, rice was sticky, and our server was exceptional!
