Great sushi and sashimi, izakaya small plates, and home style dishes. My favorite Japanese restaurant in town.
We came in at the recommendation of family we were visiting. My spouse and 2 young daughters came in for dinner. Service was ah-MAZING, truly over the top. Our server was extremely attentive, courteous, authentic, and helpful with input when we were between options. We had the Chicken Karaage, Spicy Crunch (without the jalapeno), Crunch & Munch, Carbonara Udon, EAK Ramen with extras, and Curry with added pork cutlet. Everything was SO tasty. The portions were very reasonable, and everything had great authentic flavor. The ramen broth had great depth of flavor and the noodle portion was more than we're used to (usually my husband has to order extra). The curry was hearty and I could eat it on anything all day. One of my daughter's favorite dishes is pasta carbonara, so the udon was a gentle pivot from that. Because udon doesn't really absorb fluid well, the sauce was slightly watery but the flavor and creaminess along with the udon had good flavor and mouthfeel. Everyone was always checking on us throughout the meal ensuring we had everything we needed. Highly recommend and will definitely be back when we're next in town!

This is a truly great sushi place! My husband and I went here for lunch on our anniversary. You don't really need a reservation for lunchtime, but I made one just in case. The food is great! The service was good. The lunch menu is very reasonably priced. The variety of food that isn't sushi is nice, as well, in case that's not your thing.
The staff was so welcoming and knowledgeable; the food was fresh, creative, and flavorful; the ambiance was fun and urban. Loved it!

A cozy Japanese gem tucked away in downtown Lexington! I stopped by for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how great the lunch combos areāamazing value for the price. The menu is extensive, and judging by what I tried, I wouldnāt be surprised if everything on it is delicious. The bar also caught my eye, with a wide selection of sake thatās definitely worth exploring next time!

best š£ sushi. best service. absolutely loved these ppl. the food was amazing. hands down best place I've been.
We visited School Sushi while visiting for the wknd from Ohio ⦠our servers name was Joe & I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant until tonight. He put in our order wrong & then blatantly blamed it on us when we said we didnāt receive the right items - and then instead of making it right for us, he was rude & walked away from the table. We ate our dinner - which was below average imo for a sushi restaurant & never received our soup order even after finishing our dinner - when we asked Joe about the soup - he said in a very rude manner to us that it was our fault for placing the wrong order & then again walked away .. Iām literally so upset that myself, husband, my 82 yr old mother and my two teenage girls were treated with such disrespect while we were trying to have a nice dinner while on vacation. He was the rudest server Iāve ever had in my entire life.

Food is garbage!! It shouldnāt even be considered food at all.
First off, Joe is one of the best servers my wife and I have ever met.
Second - I lived in Japan for 4 years and have been wanting Japanese curry since I left⦠this is the real stuff! Amazing.
For the chefs: I loved to go to Cocoās and have a couple requests. Your curry is better but would love another level of spicyš¶ļø. Second, is garlic cheese naan bread a thing? I didnāt even ask Joe, but I was laying in bed thinking about it⦠with some honeyā¦
Amazing service, Amazing Food!!! Joe and chef, along with all the staff are rockstars. Made my wifes 40th bday unforgettable. Thank you guys.
