My wife & I ate here for the first time recently and it was excellent. Best Chinese meal I’ve had in ages. The kung pao shrimp, sweet & sour chicken, hot & sour soup & egg rolls were all great. The server was very efficient & very nice. This is Chinese food on a higher level than you’ll get from a typical carry out place. Shun Lee will be one of our regular places to go now.

Charles is a wonderful server and very knowledgeable about current offerings. The bang bang shrimp was a great appetizer.

Service was slow, and food was mediocre. Would come back, but if service and food were similar to previous experience, I would not likely come back a third time.

I had such a wonderful experience dining at Shun Lee. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, making it perfect for a relaxing meal. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The honey walnut shrimp was especially delicious and cooked to perfection. I ordered the lunch portion, with white rice and a spring roll. Everything came out hot and fast. What really stood out was the balance of authentic flavors with great presentation—you can tell they truly care about the quality of their food and their guests' experience. Our server took great care to ensure that we had all we needed throughout our lunch. I'll be coming back and recommending this spot to friends and family. A true gem for anyone craving excellent Chinese cuisine!

We set up reservations via Open Table. We received both an email and text confirmation the day before our reservation. When we showed up, a sign was on the door stating closed for remodeling. In this age of technology, how is this level of miscommunication possible!

Made reservations several weeks ago for our daughter's birthday only to show up, and it was closed due to remodeling. Received reminder notifications the day before. We're from out of town and drove 1-1/2 hours. Website showed they were open. Very upset! No excuses not to be notified!

The wife and I ate here shortly after it opened. We are currently eating at a restaurant in Ohio and conversation about menu items here spawned this review. My wife met me after work for our Shun Lee reservation. She can dress down at work, and did so the day of the reservation. When we walked in, we were immediately judged. We were sat with a server that needed more training. His only other table was another homely looking couple. The remainder of the restaurant was dressed very nice and had the best wait staff. We had a great time and the food was pretty good, but the atmosphere presented by everyone but our server was unwelcoming. He was tipped very generously and we will never return. We hope he has moved on to a restaurant or industry that appreciates him.

Shun Lee fills a much needed niche in Lexington, one left vacant ever since Hunan in Southland closed many years ago: a good, but thoroughly Chinese American style restaurant with a good sitdown experience. If you want this kind of food, want it in an environment better than a lunch counter, and want it done in a way that isn't terribly greasy, salty or sugary, this is really your sole option in Lexington.

Having said that, I'm going to criticize the negative reviews. First, if you're reviewing a restaurant based on their DoorDash delivery, you're in the wrong format. Go away. Second, this isn't an authentic, ethnically Chinese restaurant and doesn't pretend to be, so again, if that is your gripe then you're objectively wrong. Third, if you want PF Chang you should go there.

I read the bad reviews and instantly recognized them as the people who ensure Lexington is clogged with major chain restaurants, but little that is local, authentic or fine. I wish I could report those Karenist reviews and get them removed.
